Brian great video. I agree with you keep them dancing to the song they know. Maybe the dig the club versions but the 50 yr old definitely remembers the radio version he heard in the eighties. Great mix

True ! Hard as a DJ to not play what you know or like, in order to satisfy everyone else. :) I guess a packed dance floor beats you bobbin' to your fav song alone, while no one dances or gets it. ahhahahhhaaa.

That's a good mix it works because they are both disco type songs and they have similar beats per minute and have a nice outro and intro. But the main reason like you said is that they are both popular songs and are good to dance to. Get Lucky to Don't stop goes one little extra step because the keys are compatible according to the software. Both sound equally as good to my ear. Thanks for the tip

Wise words Brian. Great advice, it is so tempting for young djs to go crazy in the mix because they can (I know, I was very guilty of it when I was starting out! lol).

that's right on B !.. at weddings i rarely play any kind of funky mash up or weird remix . Save that for the club DJs

Got to give it up Marvin Gaye to blurred lines. Same beat. Damn near a sample! Nice video.

Nice call Brian. There is a lot of social psychology going on in the background. I pretty much have the same approach to song selection... OG vs Remix debate. Funny thing is when you learn this stuff you actually do that whole thought-process in a couple of seconds. Nice of you to clearly explain the unexplainable.

When will you do the pre-wedding music you play or suggest and what songs you play for Dinner time

Very well said! I attended a wedding this last weekend and the DJ they hired was doing a ton of mashups and was basically alienating the older crowd. Some of whom left early before the cake cutting sadly. Brian I did want to ask you what are your thoughts on DJ's "advertising" during play or having a banner in front of the DJ booth area? Personally I find it extremely tacky and in poor taste to do this. Heard a DJ recently with sound bytes in between songs stating his name and company.

Just a while ago, I started to get my music from a record pool and I’ll be honest, I love it, but here’s my catch 22, the new remixes are a little too much for me, mind you I grew up on the 12” version of songs so I’m a little bias when it comes to extended versions, but it seems like, the same beats and effects go into making this new remixes and it takes away from the old song’s essence, so even when I get all this new remixes I ended up playing the song at the end of the mashup, so it kind of beats the purpose of getting them, a lot of people stays on the dance floor once they hear those first notes of a song and sometimes the mashup has nothing closed to what the songs actually sound like...
