Interesting method. I've always just set aside all the songs in a virtual folder labeled "intros." Set all the cue points ahead of time. Set them all up in order in my side list. During the intros I use the track selector dial on my controller and the load buttons for each one. Easier than clicking and dragging. It's worked well for me

Brilliant. Man as soon as I saw you say record I was like I know where he is going and I have zero idea why this never dawned on me to do it this way. Great tip!

That’s a great idea Nick! Also wanted to share, if you have a mixer that activates Scratch Bank, like the DJM-S11 and DJM-S7, you can totally do something like this. You can set each song to trigger at different cue points you designate yourself. You can have up to 8 songs per bank that trigger at cue points you set it to. And because each song is playing by itself, you also get the benefit of auto-gain.

Great tip. So much better than making a folder with all the songs in it & then having to drag & load every damn song. I am a single Op & an old man so anything that makes shit easier is gold to me.

I like to add a 4 beat loop of the bride and groom selected track, then hit a cue for the hook or verse for a more dramatic entrance.

You can also edit the song and place booms, a scratch or backspin before the part of the song you play. the transition will be more creative.

🤯Great idea! Probably one of the most stressful parts of the wedding for me, cueing up the songs fast enough for the intros. Thanks for the Tip. 👍🏽

Nice. I took it a step further and just drag all the songs into a digital audio editor...in my case, Audacity, because it's free. I used to record like you suggest, but you have to sit there while the song plays. This way, it takes less than a minute for 8 songs. Export it and set cue points. Same thing you suggest, just faster. This way is especially nice if you have HUGE wedding parties. I have had upto 12 couples. I did 2 projects of 6 songs. Exported both, and set cue points. Took me just a few minutes, instead of the time it would take to play all those songs and record.

The only thing that I would do is instead of doing this in Serato, I would do it in an audio editor (or even video editor), so that you don't have to do the real time recording first, you just throw your files in there and boom, export!

For the sampler part I’d say create your cues individually for each song then drop it in sampler. If you happen to use a DAW to speed things up rather than record in Serato. Drop your tracks in Logic, pro tools, Kool edit pro, whichever…with your gaps, export and put in Serato to set cue points. Great advice Nick! Thank you

Dope! BTW....you can record in standalone mode! Nothing plugged in and you can do this! You have to toggle to 2 deck mode versus 1 deck....but it's there for you.

I may try this. I roll solo, I que up before and just load as I go.. it did seem stressful for a sec but after the 2nd couple I am usually in my groove. Might try this now.

Brilliant! I have this next Saturday and I was dreading it, because there are 12 different songs including parents and most of them have cue points. I will just break it into 2 songs and have one "song" on each platter.

@@aaronj9341 think about this, for a pre planned set where you are mixing fast put 2 or 3 songs in a row beat grid it and set your points. Now you have a set on one track for fast transitions

Bro! Much respect, love your shit, but this is one of the exact reasons I love Virtual DJ. I have been doing this intro scenario as a single op for 10 years and I love when couples challenge me with a seperate song for each couple. Never usually have a problem (that is except one wedding where like 2 couples decided to change their song last minute (I was ready to punch them yes). I just slide them right over to my sidelist section on VDJ and I line them up in order. I also do this same thing for my requests. I even go through beforehand to set my hot cue points if I want to, but a lot of times I will just scratch them in.

Thanks Nick , I need to know how to save loops on a track after closing Serato and going back to it still have that loop .
@djgonz123
@djgonz123 3 жыл бұрын
Loops should save on exit. Make sure the file is not read only (it will have a padlock icon) because if it does any loops or cues will not save.
@mmelice
@mmelice 3 жыл бұрын
I have a better way. Turn on the Serato start from first cue point option. Then tag your song with 001, 002, 003 in the comments and sort it by that. Then all you have to do is load the next song and they will all start from the cue point you set and you aren’t limited to 8

Nice and simple. But I'm too f-king lazy to record that sh*t takes away more of porn watching. So I just make a folder, put the songs, re-label in with cue points. The folder also has the other songs---first dance, mother-daughter, father-son, gay-straight spotlight dance, cousin-sister married couple, 1st cousin-brother- inbred couple, muslim-rabbi dance, kkk-blm dance, etc.
