The grandma is Morticia's mom. There was a scene in The Addams Family when Morticia took Fester to the grave to remind him of his family ancestors, and showed him the statues of 'Mama and Papa Addams', assumingly they were the late parents of Fester and Gomez. Additionally, if the grandma was the paternal mom, she couldn't had been kicked out with Gomez and his family when Fester, the oldest son and heir, was manipulated to kick his younger brother's family out. The grandma, if she was Fester and Gomez's mom, would have had some rights as much as the heir, to save Gomez's family from being kicked out.

@PlugInRides2 жыл бұрын
@@KasumiRINA I don't think that's the case, but I did know some people in college who used European ancestry to apply to graduate degree programs as "Hispanic". The problem is also that their are plenty of rich people from Mexico, Central and South America, who are totally white European ancestry. The upper class of most Latin American countries are "Castilians", or ethnically white Spaniards, with no indigenous ancestry. Many Latin American "Castilians" even speak with the Spanish “Ceceo” lisp, to differentiate themselves from the lower classes. Then again, there are parts of the United States, where speaking English with any Spanish accent, is cause for discrimination, no matter the skin tone.
@KasumiRINA2 жыл бұрын
@@PlugInRides I mean the terminology usage:, football here is when you kick a ball with your foot, and Hispanic means someone with Spanish ancestry... but in USA "Hispanic" means Latin Americans. We used the word mestizos to refer to people of mixed Native American descent but "latinos" works too (and probably better, less dated)... it's the word Hispanic that is confusing because Hispania is Spain, not Mexico or Colombia. Another thing that confuses us is that "Caucasian" and "black" are synonymous in Eastern Europe, while Americans use the word "Caucasian" to mean "white"... Like, Armenians are from Caucasus and are considered black here. Not because of skin color (which is tan, not black), but the hair, eyes, and general hairiness compared to Nordic or Central European peoples... but it's the other way around, calling someone with British or German ancestry "Caucasian" is what brings cultural shock. Oh and there's a weirder thing in Europe where some don't consider people from Italy white... I've heard people say that "Italians are basically gypsies", and yeah, I personally can't tell apart Romanians, Romani or Sicilians apart. *shrugs* But generally, there isn't a collective "white people" in Europe same way it is in USA... A light skinned Swede would not consider themselves closer to a light skinned Polish person than to someone dark-skinned from Sweden... Identity is less about skin color, and more around language, ethno-cultural boundaries, and religion, or at least political nationality... any American would be a Yankee, regardless if they're 86% Irish Catholic from dixieland. But then we don't consider family of a Spaniard and French woman mixed race or something, as the cultural segregation history here is very different (not less bad, skull measuring and all, just... not the same, YMMV if having to track generations to discriminate people is worse than just using Family Guy skin color swatch lol). Ofc Addams Family being an American show it makes more sense to base it around US racial dynamics so my point is moot. P.S. Thanks for your input, never heard Castilian being used to denote whiteness before BTW, to us Castile is the part of Spain around Madrid, and usually comes up when discussing other Spanish ethnicities like the Basque or Catalan... So Castilian won't be juxtaposed to a mixed race person, but to folks in Barcelona wanting more rights or less influence from the capital.

I enjoyed the show but I don't buy that anyone likes Wednesday at all, especially romantically. She's an absolute jerk to everyone around her. Some of them even get seriously physically injured directly because of her. It's a stretch that anyone wouldn't hate her let alone actually like her.

BUT ... by the last episodes the whole Nightshade group rallies around her, and the whole school sees she saved them. Re-watch the last episode.

@@philippdaphiladelphia4440 for no actual reason other than the plot needs it to happen. Why would any of them have reason to like her at that point?

I really wish you people would just stop acting like you know what a Hispanic person should look like. Hispanic countries’ populations are Spanish influenced. There white and brown Spaniards. So, a blonde- or brown-haired Mexican, Colombian or Puerto Rican would not be unheard of. Also, to say that Raul Julia’s ethnicity is ambiguous is just ignorant. First, as a Hispanic, he definitely looks Spanish, so a black-haired, brown-haired or blonde-haired Gomez would’ve been appropriate. You should just stop speaking about race. It makes you all look like bigots.
