Lisa Loring portrayed Wednesday Addams in the original series from 1964-1966; the actress unfortunately passed away this past January. She was 6 years old when the series began. When Christina Ricci began portraying Wednesday she was 11 years old so Jenna Ortega is the oldest actor to take on this role as she is 20 years old. With this in mind we can see things like Wednesday’s new ability didn’t take hold until she became a teenager. I admire how you broke down the episode; once again good job.

@@BeautyandtheBeard1 You’re welcome. I’ve watched the original series read the comic strips saw the movies everyone thinks is the original love version of the Addams Family and now Wednesday. I’ve been a fan my entire life. I wasn’t surprised by her new powers because she was always portrayed as a younger child so this coming of she version is amazing.

@@BeautyandtheBeard1 Agreed, I found it exhilarating as a fan of the Addams Family my entire life. I know some people are confused after watching an 11-year old Christina Ricci play Wednesday as more affectionate towards her mother and when Lisa Loring played her it was the same and she was 6-years of age. That teenaged angst has not been considered and the added stress of obtaining her powers, she would be different now as she matures.

A couple of things to watch for. 1) Wednesday almost never blinks. 2) Except for the opening sequence, whenever you see Wednesday walking, she doesn't swing her arms. They remain fixed at her sides. Both add to the natural sense we have that she is strange and stiff.

Christina Ricci wasn't the original Wednesday. Lisa Loring, was the original Wednesday Addams, who died recently at 64. She passed after Wednesday came out. The Addams Family, which was the first adaptation of Charles Addams' New Yorker cartoons, ran from 1964 to 1966 on ABC. Wednesday plays a Cello.
