Weird thing to comment but I thought you may like to know. I'm currently writing my University dissertation on queerbating and Wednesday, it's my final deadline before graduating. I plan on using a few quotes from your analysis in one of my chapters, of course, fully credited. Thank you very much for helping me graduate haha

It really makes me mad that they use the aesthetics of queernes and queer subtext but In this show that there is no reason why it should be like this everyone is straight, is a school of outcast it makes no sense, in my head Gomez and Morticia are T4t (ppl in Reddit got mad at me for saying that) and it’s so obvious that wensday is aromantic. Tim Burton is all about aesthetics but is never deep just shallow visuals so tiring

I HATE that. Like they want to profit off of the queer community without adding any actual representation or meaning

Well what can I say Within 2 years, Wenclair literally became the soul of fandom in the sense that they (myself included) were literally the ones keeping it all alive. The arrival of the novelisation of the first season woke everyone up as whoever wrote the novel added some Wenclair material ✨

I think that's super rad! I just don't like queer baiting just to make more money without actually giving proper representation

I mean, in the recently released novel you can that there is queerbaiting? Idk, it looks more like slowburn, I don't know if you mean. What has been written, in general, is a fix of Wednesday, where she has been made more ""emotional"" and aware of certain dynamics (thus seeming less hypocritical than in the TV version) and everything inherent in Enid can be said to be a broader emotional evolution, precisely what would be called for all intents and purposes a slowburn, where the couple is not born but maybe a solid foundation for the romantic couple is going to be created

@@andry4570 I haven't read the book or anything. My statement from 2 days ago was referring to media/entertainment representation in general

To be fair to Netflix they have pissed of the nutty anti SJW crowd more than once in the last couple of years from their Masters Of The Universe show to some French indie flick, add in the drop in subscriptions and they have been a bit gun shy.

I get that Netflix is concerned about their financial situation, but it still sucks

I hope that you have had the chance to watch the series. In addition to the darkness and the humor, what I think made the show unique and appealing was, although the character Wednesday was brilliant in many ways, she was a babe in the woods in the domain of feelings and emotions. We see in the series, that as she grows as a person, there is one person who can hurt her feelings, who is Enid. Also, one of the only places which she really feels safe is in Enid's embrace. It's clear that Wednesday loves Enid more than anyone else in her life, it just isn't clear whether that love is romantic or platonic. It would be interesting and important if Wednesday were to explore this part of herself, and I think it natural that she and Enid at least experiment with a romantic relationship to see if that is the type of love that they share. I write this not as an LBGTQ person, but a person who is interested and curious about why people do what they do.

I was surprised that this show didn't force any queer character as they usually do this days....I was glad for that

I'm not saying queer representation should be forced onto shows but I think it is nice when it is genuine

I swear this is like the thousandth time I've seen a character being changed into a gay character I swear it's getting annoying sometimes I miss seeing a heterosexual couple every character has been turned gay and it's getting kind of creepy
@LaurenSchwartzbard2 жыл бұрын
There are TONS of heterosexual characters out there though! And this version of Wednesday doesn't have to be your personal version of Wednesday
