Omg, it's such a relief finally hearing someone talk about this topic! Using MMD nowadays is SO frustrating when almost everything is taken down... I especially absolutely adore nerudora's models and it made me so happy to see them being mentioned when their work seemed to have been forgotten for a dacade! The z7def Kagamine Rin model is one of my favourite Rin models EVER and luckily I have a copy of it from an old disk and I treat it like a priceless gem xD Still, it's the only one I have, but it's good to know at least someone has the rest of the Vocaloids so at least we know they're not lost! Another user's models and motions I still have that are now unavailable are FlyingSpirits'. I only have a couple of them but they used to upload tons of things from Project Diva that have all been deleted from all of their sites...

I still have a Christia (AOT) model by nerudora and Mamama's Gumi model. 👀 It's really unfortunate how many of my favorite models have become lost over the years. I'm really lucky that I still have 99% of all the MMD files I had when I first started using MMD, but unfortunately I've lost a lot of other files over the other years, such as maydayfireball's Luki Megurine model, which I still cry about to this day because he was my absolute favorite model. ;~; I'm really lucky that I still have Chamu's Kaito model because I still use it to this day.

Exactly! I always found that gender swaps can 100% be trans, and trans characters can still be trans but just a different spectrum of the trans experience.

Nonbinary person here. "genderswaps are transphobic" is one of those things that I would say... *can* be correct depending on how it's handled, but incorrect broadly, the concept isn't inherently problematic. It's also one of those things people assume trans people are a hivemind on for some reason?? Lots of trans people also love genderswaps, they use them to explore gender identity, and for some it's upsetting and they don't want anything to do with them. Both parties are valid until one or the other starts to insist their opinion is broad and objective fact, but I don't think it's right to say genderswaps are or are not transphobic in general. They certainly can be, especially when you fall back to gender stereotypes, but there's definitely ways to do them respectfully and in an interesting way. I think it's about the specific instance of it, and individual people's opinions, it's not something you can say "ALL of them are good or bad" to. .... Though to be fair, anime media does tend to lean more towards the insensitive/tropey/fetishistic side of genderswaps, so that's food for thought lol tl;dr: it's a neutral subject and it depends on The Specific Instance of it, how it's handled and all that. You are 100% allowed to come to your own conclusions, if you enjoy them that's perfectly fine!!

Hi I just came across this video randomly. But for Mamamas Rin and Len models, I saw some similar looking ones in an mmd video of the song Heart Beats that uses a ton of the vocaloids and a bunch of different models. Could those potentially be them? I'm not in the mmd community, but I do like watching mmds every now and then, so I don't know too much on the history of different models, so this was an interesting watch! :D

If I'm thinking of the same ones, those were by Teihen508. The other Append models were made by Jiyurun and Muubu but I have to admit that they do have a similar style!

I used to be really off-put by genderswaps and while I still do think a lot of them are really lazy, I think they're fine to exist - even ones as redundant as Rin and Len swaps. For the record I'm nonbinary, many of my friends are trans, and I've been in trans cosplay and other creative spaces for a long time, and a lot of the time people have a character they connect to, and portraying that character as a gender that doesn't trigger dysphoria. I've had friends who have chosen to cosplay a genderswapped female character even though that character already had a male counterpart, and after I thought about it I realized that there really is a distinction, even if the distinction comes down to "it's the vibes". In a similar situation, just a few weeks ago I was talking to my friend about how I want to cosplay UTAU Teto but I didn't want to feel "too much like a schoolgirl", but also I wanted to be her and not a Kasane Ted variant, and we had to sit down and go through various options to alter her design enough that it won't make me uncomfortable to wear - and most of it didn't come down to the skirt in the end but other things like shoes, makeup, accessories - little things that just changed the feel of the design so it wouldn't trigger dysphoria. Does it logically make sense? No, but that's just what it comes down to sometimes with complicated, personal feelings and what we connect to.

I could have sworn I saw a download for that model on Twitter? I could be wrong! With models like that, usually made by Japanese users on Twitter, they have a group they have you join on Twitter first before you have a download! I think it's called List or something?

@@WeebaLu It's an older Riddle model. The first one made. He was limited and now he's gone. I've got this... Subpar Riddle and his face is... ^^; Also, talk about models you can't get anymore like the older versions of the DSP crew made by Stepashka. Her comp went down and the rest of her models that were teased or old can no longer be downloaded and she's vanished. Sweet B also had motions that you could DL at one point and then something went down and now you can no longer DL her motions. Like at all.

love your video I use MMD and there are a lot of MMD model that A: there download links don't work anymore or B: have been taken down there are a lot more models. that there links are A: dead or B: taken down the Fandom wiki for MMD hads a lot of models that have there links broke or don't work anymore. I have look in it and there a lot more models that are missing or lost media as well I would love to see a lost media utau video there as well a lot of Voicebank with there CV missing or lost.

The Ash model was only available for download via a group on Twitter called a "List" or something? Although I followed the model maker and was able to obtain Ash and Eiji through the List, the List I was a part of was deleted and I can't seem to find the model maker anymore on my following list.
