Why would Putin make a deal when he'll be able to take the whole of Ukraine soon? The time for a deal was a year or two ago. Now Russia stands to gain immense resources, some of the best agricultural land on the planet and a population of ethnic Russians many times greater than the losses they have sustained. Meanwhile Ukraine is demographically broken and the war is quickly exhausting the remaining weapons stocks of the whole of Europe.

Are you serious? Russia can't even recover its 2022 lost territory in Kharkiv while it's met little recent success in recovering Kursk. Recently Weeb said they were gaining just 20 sqkm per day while they'd need about 50 or 60 to simply take all of Donbas (or something like that) by the end of this year. Armored assault columns on either side risk being savaged by drones. How many viddies of their destruction must we see before it's obvious that offensive operations are severely restricted in this war? Any "victory" by either side would almost certainly be Pyrrhic. But both sides are stubborn and unwilling to compromise.

Can Trump undo a standard US policy towards Russia since a century. One cannot forget the exuberance in the US when Germany attacked the former USSR during the second world war. US knows that it cannot fight a war beyond the bounds of their own country. They thought that with the help of Ukarainian soldiers they can fight one with Russia. However this too does not appear to fructify when none of the European countries are ready to put their troops in Ukaraine.

Russia never move forward than how far I could before the war I could on my bicycle in a day. Russia literally spend millions to achieve such tiny, tiny gains. In fact the total for a year averages is only 30Km. Russia can only win if Ukraine surrenders. Ukraine merely have to have the goal of keeping this movement about the same. Russia's stockpile of both money in the bank and recycled weapons is all but totally depleted. The factories can not produce anything more than they are. There are no 'game changer weapons' about to appear. The war is over but Putin will not admit it.

That is a very limited appraisal of this conflict. Russia is now much stronger than at the outset and Ukraine lost the war at Mariupol. It's just that the Russians does not have as primary goal to take territory but to deplete the Ukrainian army
