our Emu was too young to die

We're devastated. He was only 7 weeks old. Sometimes this happens on the farm, but it's never easy.
Hi there! 👋🏻 We live on a 1-acre farm right in the middle of the busy city of Phoenix, Arizona! Our names are Kevin & DaNelle, and we moved here in 2009, when our kids Ethan & Lydia were just 6 & 4 years old 🥰 Over the years we've raised goats for milk, chickens for eggs, built a fish/swim pond, planted fruit & nut trees, and grew a large garden full of veggies. We've also raised a bunch of other animals like pigs, sheep, turkeys, geese, peacocks, and more!
Now that our kids are away at college, we have settled into doing what we love most -- which is raising & breeding goats ethically to improve genetics. But don't worry, we'll forever love our goofy pet goats like Luna the herd queen & Willow the stump lover. We also still love raising chickens for eggs, gardening, tending to the fruit & nut trees, and growing fish in the pond. We use the fresh goat's milk to make cheese, butter, yogurt -- and we use that + everything else we harvest on our little farm to make delicious meals. Having a getaway from the busy world right in our backyard brings so much joy to us each day, and we hope it brings some to you, too. 🥰

Buckbeak tested high for parasites. That is a high probability that's what killed him. Birds of any kind with high parasites don't tend to last long.

Oh no, I am so sorry. I know the Emu had made a place in y'all's heart and tell Ethan I am so sorry. It's a very good idea to have the autopsy done in case it had something that could have possibly been spread to your other animals. Sometimes it just happens, a parasitic infection that probably wouldn't hurt an adult, might be fatal for a young bird. We have a mister here I made it with a large fan hung it from the rafter and put a garden mister at the top in front of it and faced it down towards the seating area. It doesn't make a lot of difference here since I relative humidity is 90% but I'm sure it would do well in Arizona. Again thank you for your video, always love to watch the news on your family. I have just started watching your videos of your farm... I have laughed and cried, and I just want you to know that I have fallen in love with your whole family. Humans and Animals. Thank you for sharing everything . I love your home. I love your goats and pigs and chickens and kittens and I am sorry for the loss of the Emu. From what I have learned, they don't do well alone. They need another emu to keep them healthy habitually and emotionally. Don't give up. and if you are gifted another, see about making sure you acquire a companion for it. the rest of the animals aren't able to fill whatever Gap they need filled.
