I love Lola a lot I can see her being one of the doelings that you keep especially with all those moonspots. Newt is getting so big. I love how you mentioned selective breeding as I learned about it today. With selective breeding you will have to make cuts in your herd based on what you are looking for it could be; udder placement, larger teat size, milk quality, polled/horned, strong bucks, or even the best looks. You will always have to make those cuts, so that the next population/future kids have the best genetics that you are looking for.

Olive is amazing and had great milk production, but unfortunately she didn’t inherit her mother’s udder attachments. 😢 With goats, attachments always get worse, not better - so we always want nice high & tight attachments as a 1 year old so we know that the udder won’t start dragging on the ground or get injured or tear at a young age. We milked her throughout her first year and took time to assess her, then I decided to breed her again and see what her udder looked like as a 2 year old (sometimes mammary systems can improve in the second year, although it wasn’t very likely in her case) We decided to let her twin doelings go with her, because the new family wanted to raise up the babies and bond with them at a young age. With Chip, the reason we let him stay was because he was rather rough on Olive's udder (bucklings can be like this) and we worried he might injure or tear it, since her attachments are so weak. We have been bottlefeeding him and he’ll go as a wether (castrated male) as a pet. All around we feel like this was the best decision for her.

Aspen and Cedar are my favourites they have such lovely doeling shapes and they're flashy so very attractive. Definitely Hazel's strength in genetics, just need the udder to come through (fingers crosed for these doelings) 🤞 Lola is pretty but need extra work for socialising. Johnny Cash would be a nice buck, but not for you as you have his Dad and so many siblings.

You maybe able to call the vet an tell them your goat babies have it an need a med prescribed. They may just fill it without having to see them.

Part 2- the herd queen showdown Aspen leaped onto the igloo and looked around with a smug, “This is my kingdom and you have to listen to what I say!!!” Newt looked up, “what’s a kingdom?” Aspen huffed, “It’s like a place for queens and kings to rule, that’s what old lady Luna said at least-“ “Like you would be queen Aspen I would be much better!” Honey snorted, “All you would do is boss people around!” Lavender shook her head in agreement with her sister. “Oh yea!!! Well uh-“ Aspen looked for her sister, “Cedar! Tell them what a good leader I would be!!” Cedar looked at Aspen, “Well maybe we should let both of you be the queen?” “IM NOT SHARING WITH HER!” Honey and Aspen said simultaneously, “MOMMM!!” Aspen ran to hazel, “ Tell them what a good queen I’ll be!!” She whined, “Go ask Luna I’m busy” Hazel snorted, eating her food. All the little goats ran to Luna’s pen arguing who should be queen. “ All right settle down”, Luna looked at the little tornados, “Why not have a competition to see whose better?” Luna picked a stick up, “And the winner gets this stick.” The little goats looked confused, “but isn’t it just a stick?” Cedar replied. “Not just any stick, this stick is what makes me the herd queen!” She snuffed, giving a mischievous look. The little goats stared in awe, each one had a chance at becoming herd queen. “What about me!” Newt cried, “I wanna be cool too! Why do the doe’s get a stick but not me-“ Luna look sympathetically, “Hm.. Why don’t you be the-“ she thought for a moment, “you’ll be the king then!” Luna knew newt wouldn’t stay for long but she didn’t wanna hurt his feelings. “Ok! I’ll be king then!” The little goats started to squirm and squeal, but soon they’re fun would end as the sun went to bed, for tomorrow was the herd queen showdown! Hope you enjoyed this second part, if I ever get to drawing this a comic I’ll be sure to let everybody know! ❤

She is very pretty, but we have to make sure we're continuing the right genetics, and Tatum has a tiny udder. But we're going to give it a couple weeks and start to milk Tatum to see if she's improved.

Casper, IMO, is the most adorable puppy. I’ve never really seen schnauzers before, but yours are just so gorgeous. On the baby goats - well all I can say is that you all are so amazing! From delivery forward 😊it’s such an emotional endeavor to take on. I’d be crying in my tea when having to see them go onto their new families. I’d be hard pressed to do the necessary culling of the herd. Thanks for sharing not just videos of them, but also explaining what you’re doing and the reasoning behind it. Thanks again 😊

We bred one of our Nigerians for the first time, we only have 3. So fun watching her belly swell, but she is definitely the skittish type. While the other two will walk right up to us and demand pets, she will stay behind and watch us as if she's not sure if we will love her or eat her. She does not like to be touched or interact with us. So while I think she will be a great mama, definitely will want to work on being very friendly with the kids.

Honestly, idk....I have faith in Raven. I remember even in blue cactus' Lidi, she had pretty tiny udder but in videos, while milking, now you can see she has large teat now. I am so excited to see Zorro's daughter perform after how awesome his dam is. Aah. Also Prim looks amazinggg

I would definitely wait on the juniors udders to come in before deciding too. If Prim's udder turns out as nice as her dam's then you'll want to keep a doe out of her, if she has one. I think if I were choosing between Miss Honey and Lola ( for Tilly's line) then I'd choose Lola as you already have Raven and Tatum, and you might have more success improving the line through Tatum or Raven babies instead. Raven's udder is still small, but she is the last to kid, and it did look like it might be wide so fingers crossed. Daphne's doeling's are both lovely but different body types so far so that'll make deciding hard. Then there's Hazel's to consider, will Finnick improve their udders or not. Do you keep daughters out of the doe's with better udders or keep ones from does who need more improvement? I guess if you kept three doelings this season, you could do a Daphne doe, a doe out of the best udder of the juniors, and then one improvement prospect? It's extra hard because you have so many doelings to choose from, lol. It'll be interesting to see, would love a video on what to look for in doelings that you keep, like confirmation and such. Looking forward to the next couple of months. Exciting.
