Class 2-78. Tactical officers never yelled, never used profanity, but the first 6 weeks were pretty much devoted to making you quit. About a 50% drop out rate. If you survived to an intermediate candidate and didn't have to recycle for medical reasons, you would probably graduate.

@AlvintheDirector5 жыл бұрын
Diamond Thrasher Absolutely, Diamond. The ones who don’t pass, don’t class up so you’ll be a holdover until you pass the PT test. But everyone SHOULD pass the PT test if they plan on becoming an officer.

@@AlvintheDirector I'm currently applying to be an officer, just finished my physical. But I realized that I'm not in the best shape. From this, I'm assuming that they expect you to already be physically fit unlike basic where they do pt everyday correct? In my mind that would be the hardest part. What is the hardest part in your experience?
@AlvintheDirector5 жыл бұрын
Diamond Thrasher Once you go to basic, they’ll make sure that you are in top shape for OCS. You’ll PT every day in Basic which will help a lot and then the daily PT will intensify in OCS. @@AlvintheDirector That's for federal OCS at Benning. National Guard OCS has shark attacks and "Platoon trainer brakes" where you're punished for 15 minutes twice a day, like clockwork. It sucked. There was nothing you can do about it. I recommend you go to federal, if you're in the national guard.
@LA_Commander2 жыл бұрын
I went in 2008 and we had a "shark attack". It all depends on the company to which you're assigned. Some commanders are tough and "old school" while others are more relaxed.

My husband went to basic at Benning to become an 11B. About 6 years later, he switched to Warrant and is now an Apache pilot. I've been considering joining the Army Nursing Corp after I receive my BSN, do they go through basic? And is OCS the same for them? (I'm assuming it is) not sure if you'll be able to answer these questions, but I figured you would have more insight. Also, do you know of any experiences with dual military couples and how duty stations work when it comes to warrants and officers? Thanks in advance! Your videos are very insightful. 😊

Hey man, I’m considering Ng, and I thought the 18 month ocs makes more sense cuz I can keep moving forward with school (I would do summer boot camp). But seems like the attrition rate is unnecessarily tough. I’m up for the challenge but w no military experience before I wanna strategize what would make sense. I have a fiancé (we are 22) so the longer federal option is hard to muster over after already 10 weeks away. Also would eat away at civilian life responsibilities. Any advice helps
@AlvintheDirector3 жыл бұрын
I’d say discuss the option with your fiancé. Both options are great paths
@freddyt863 жыл бұрын
I’m in the NG and did Federal OCS. I recommend knocking it out at once. Was already married, had two kids, and a third on the way. It’s possible. Went from basic to OCS. You’re joining the military which means you could deploy. Everything is preparing you for that possibility so get used to being gone. I know plenty of guys who have commissioned through state OCS and they had bad experiences. If you can go Federal, do so. Just my 2¢.
