I stumbled upon your channel this morning, and I'm SO glad I did! I love your specimen cards so much. I'm a card maker as a rule, but I've been dipping my toes into journal making, and I must admit that I absolutely love it. I really love the popular grungy, industrial, vintage look, but when I'm actually making cards, journals, or home decor, "shabby chic" is much more my style. I love the pastel colors, the lace, flowers, and butterflies. I'm definitely going to use your inspiration to whip up a few of the specimen cards. Your cards would make terrific card fronts, but I think I'll give them a try in a journal that I've been working on. Thank you so much, Annette, for sharing your ideas and inspiration with us. Again, I'm so happy that I found you!

Your specimen cards are all gorgeous! Your papers really add such a nice look to them too. That sticky grid technique is awesome. I would love one for my misti but for now I tried my little gelli plate in my misti. Only thing is it is thicker so the misti doesn’t completely close but I did get it to work just not quite as good as yours but not too bad. I love having a two sided die-cut butterfly for specimen cards…yay!
@AnnetteGreen5 ай бұрын
Thanks Belinda! Isn't that mirror stamping cool? The KZbinr I saw doing this technique used her silicone mat she normally uses in her die-cutting machine. I suppose that works as long as you have the cushion mat in your Misti as well, otherwise it's too thin. I don't have one of those mats (I thought I did, but don't, LOL) so that's why I just tried out this Waffle Flower grip mat.
@belindazimmer21075 ай бұрын
@@AnnetteGreen I know! I’ve seen others use their white silicone mat to do the mirror stamping and other things but your idea to make it be exactly mirrored behind the original image using a stamp positioner tool is so clever! Way to go….love it!

Love all of them. Im going to have to make some for my journals. I don't have a dye cutter, but I can do a lot of these using punches, my different edged scissors and a craft knife to create the specimen opening. I'll have to give it a try after I get adjusted to a new med.

Great Specimen cards. I have done some with dried flowers in the past as well but I struggle with proper seal around the flower when laminating. Perhaps I am using too heavy of laminating sheets, or....... it could be the operator. This has motivated me to keep trying. :)
@AnnetteGreen5 ай бұрын
Thanks Celine. Does your laminator have two settings like mine does? When I do the very thin real flowers, I set it to the 3 mil setting. When I do the cardstock cut-outs or thicker artificial flowers, I set it to 5 mil. Mine are sealed very nicely. Also, do the whole sheet as opposed to small pieces of the laminating sheets. That's what is recommended for the best seal, at least on my machine. Hope that helps you before trying again.
@celineworotniak43495 ай бұрын
@@AnnetteGreen Hi Annette. It doesn't. just an on and off switch. Not top of the line for sure but I am going to try some different weight of the sheets. Thanks.

P.S. like the stamping trick too. Would anything else work to stamp onto besides the waffle mat for that technique? Thank you!
@AnnetteGreen5 ай бұрын
I saw a video where someone used a silicone mat that one would normally use for embossing through their die-cutting machine. I didn't have that, so I tried mine instead. I would test out things you have to see what works.
@scrappaperart5 ай бұрын
Question......the Grip Matt isn't that sticky? How does the ink come off it then? I like this idea of reverse stamping. This seems to be a quick and simple technique but it's not clicking for me. Thanks
@AnnetteGreen5 ай бұрын
The grip mat is "tacky" but not sticky. Any silicone mat would work I believe. I just didn't have one so I tried this. They key is to make sure whatever mat your use, it's thick enough or shimmed enough so that your stamp makes good contact.
