Viterbo University Instructor David P. Perrodin, PhD, delivers the Week 3 Fireside Chat for EDUL 655 - Pupil Services & Nondiscrimination, Spring 2023. He recaps themes from week 2 including a review of process for responding to claims of alleged student bullying. Wisconsin Act 309 is reviewed and students are encouraged to examine their district's BOE bullying policies for compliance with Act 309 and to also ensure that cyberbullying is addressed (as it wasn't specifically delineated in Act 309). Dr. Perrodin distinguishes between ADA service animals, comfort animals, and pets. The week 3 preview includes a discussion of working with neighboring districts to expand pupil services professional development and assets. Dr. Perrodin introduces the Community Health Needs Assessment and notes how it can help bring mental health services to school districts. He shares a menu of CESA services including mental health training and responsive classroom workshops.
