I'm not a loomis method user, but from what I have seen, the eyes should be in-between the circles on the side. I don't know if this is on purpose, but you have put the eyes going over the circle which is why the faces turn out too wide maybe? I see why you made the eye go over the circle line, it's closer to the reference then if you used the Loomis method normally with the base you drew, because your Loomis sphere is not at the angel it should be for the reference. Try opening an image of a face, rotate it so the eyes are level, and use the ellipse tool make it go from a bit outside the eye to the back of the skull, where you think it would be under the hair.

If i could give a piece of advice try drawing with straight lines first to help simplify the process, i think you move on to inking just a bit too soon feel free to erase and adjust especially during the sketching phase.

Thanks for the advice. I will try to keep that in mind for my future drawings.

The underlay you drew is a different angle from the reference. With your angle the right ear shouldn't be visible, and the left ear should be at the midline on the side of the sphere. You didn't really understand the method you were using and just copied the reference. You should do some real life studies at different angles to get a better understanding of the general shape of the head.
