Oh my gosh, Joe! That advice was so heartfelt and so profound, both my eyebrows went up in surprise hahaha. But for real, that working all hard just to get to the surface of the water and then taking a shallow breath and sinking back in is exactly how it is feels. It is a pain that can only be described by someone who has been in that situation, and I gotta say, sorry to hear that you were in a similar situation. You are absolutely right, it doesn't need to be abusive or violent, but it is extremely taxing on someone's mental health which can lead to serious consequences. But this was sage advice, Joe! Some relationships are worth fighting for, but not EVERYDAY lol. I wish my parents knew this hahaha.

I was about 4, sitting on my mom's lap, my father hit her in the mouth and threatened to tie her to railroad tracks. Talk about a kid scared that he'd do it. F'd my head up pretty bad. They were exactly like this video.
