Lost my princess bernesian mudhug 4 days ago after 11 years of love, luck and relaxation. Raised her from exactly what you have there. Cant tell you how heartbroken i feel. Lost the other cuddle bear 3 years ago. Though we have two little kids, the house never seemed so quiet and empty. This video made me smile from my heart the first time since. Thank you very much. My brother had a Bernese mountain, he passed away at the end of MARCH 2020! He was the family dog, we miss him so much. We had him for my autistic nephew but tragically by brother had a car accident and DUKE became his guide dog. He was full of love. Now, I am looking for a Bernese mountain as I too have an autistic son and another kid with another disability, by experience these dogs are great for therapy, but most of all they give so much love. They love to cuddle. They are big teddy bears!!

100 percent. We have two amazing Berners from the same breeder and they are in terrific health with no issues. We worship them both. Thanks for emphasizing the importance of a really good breeder for a purebred dog.

It's such an incredible breed. I know what you mean, no dog, no matter how long their lifespan is enough. That being said we are doing our best to help the breed live longer happier lives! :)

Just a quick thing - Bernese good bois live a really long life for a big dog, despite of general life span posted online. I have now a 3rd dog of this breed, just fyi. 1st, lived good almost 14 years (7, of these were after having TWO sunstrokes in one summer due to a really bad keeper he was left with) 2nd one lived 2 years, I did put her to sleep earlier because me and my family decided we didn't want her to suffer problems with back legs like our first good boie did, + she went thru really bad pregnancy in her later years (she and our first bernese lived together for about 6 years) that damaged her badly in terms of health AND she was abused by her first owner in first 6/8 months of her life. If they are given proper healthcare they can really live a long life full of love and happiness.

Kim S Their lifespan definitely isn’t that short when you buy from a good reputable breeder and when you watch their weight the first year they grow. They will not have the typical hip problems if you keep them on the leaner side. Thats what we did with our berner and he is perfectly healthy and i’m pretty sure we will have a long time with him :)

The short answer is we live in Los Angeles and these dogs deserve to be in the mountains (they don't do well in hot weather). That being said we have the handsome Great Dane Baloo who just turned 1 today and our little rescue poodle mix paxton!
