Went on a day trip here from Osaka. Its a magical place. There's also a huge bronze Buddha statue that's right in the park (the statue's hand is bigger than an average-sized human). But yes, those deer are relentless when they know you have the crackers.

The deer are easy to manage, you just need to think about the signals you do when you’re about to give them or are carrying rice crackers. It’s no different than dog training principles. Don’t put you hands in your pockets unless your going to feed the deer, don’t hold crackers unless you’re going to feed the deer. Just show them empty hands, make them bow to earn the crackers. Don’t make any movements that look like you were about to feed them, they get confused and frustrated. There were so many tourists I had to train how to work with the deer calmly. The deer aren’t the issue.

I was in Kyoto (around Arashiyama) in March when it was absolutely dead. It was my second time visiting the city, and honestly, I loved it and it totally changed my image of Kyoto. The first time, I actively disliked it because all of these beautiful places were overrun with awful tourists (not that tourists are awful, I just experienced some particularly bad ones). I realise that businesses need the tourism, I get it, but it's just utterly impossible to enjoy with the millions of people that visit every year. I can't imagine living there the entire time. I realise that I myself am a tourist in Japan, but I at least try to respect the places I visit, and the people I interact with. Talk about a double edged sword :)

BOLD ASSUMPTION: At 17:37 Emma tells her mum that she has 18,000 photos on her phone. Her first video from Japan was posted Feb 3, 2016. That's 1,785 days in Japan as of Dec 23, 2020. From this, we can determine that, on average, Emma takes and retains slightly over 10 photos per day, every single day.

I do like it when a video creator has the level of awareness that they answer the question that forms independently of the actual theme or content of the video. About 0:33 I started to wonder to myself, "is there something wrong with her eye?"... then she answers that question a few moments later. Very nice and that shows a degree of video maturity that most do not have. Oh, the deer are so cute, especially the one that bows for crackers. (I know many do it)

So very much agreed... been to Kyoto back in 2008, and then in 2018. Not like I resent tourism, because obviously, I'm also a tourist, and it's a major source of income for so many people there, but man, the Kyoto back in 2008 when Japan still hadn't exploded this much in tourism was so sooo much better. The experience I mean. A bit self centered of me I guess, but it's like a whole other vibe when the touristic spots are not too full, or even completely empty. It gives the perfect atmosphere, tranquility, relaxed state to really take in all the beauty...
