It's so great that you realized you needed to make some changes and went for it! Having colleagues that help out is so important. Having a strong support system at school is a game-changer! The first few weeks definitely take so much effort. You're taking the time to teach them structure and it looks like you're off to a great start!

Our lunch is 12:05-12:45 and prep towards the end of the day too! I watched some of your old videos last year when I was student teaching (no clue what grade I was going to teach) and flash forward to now I’m a first year 2ND grade teacher too, you’re back uploading and I’ve already taken so many notes for what I can try with the students!! Oh my gosh…our afternoon is from 11:55-3:45. It is incredibly lllooonngggg! Thank goodness we do have a 20 minute recess and a 40 minute prep at the very end of the day.

Great video. Your room looks great. Amazing strategies you are using.Please continue making videos. I retired June 30, 2019 from teaching grades 1,2 & 3 for 41 years. Most of my career was in second grade. I miss certain things the kids for sure and doing bulletin boards and making Power Points for class. You are doing a great job, keep being positive. You will have good and bad days. There are more good then bad. Thanks for sharing!

I make a weekly slide deck so all of the days are in one! It’s really nice to be able to easily move/arrange slides if I don’t get to something and it’s nice to be able to easily copy & paste to review the next day!

Yes, the afternoon is super long. I teach kinder and we have lunch from 11-11:40. Then we go from 11:40 till 2:28 😅, almost 3 hours. It’s a pretty long afternoon.

Thanks so much for being here! We’ve made it a quick little part of our day, just 15 minutes wherever we can fit it. We only do 2 letters for handwriting boot camp and then I try to reinforce it all day whenever we write!
