Thank you so much for sharing this video! I was really curious about what a social media manager does and how it works and it seems that I have done some of this in the past but did not realize it. I worked with a school club entrepreneurial organization where I would post our event pictures to our Facebook group and always be taking videos and pictures everything we did as well as being at tables for events when we would recruit. Kathryn Warren depending on where you go to school you could major in either and get either job. Advertising is more creative. Marketing is more numbers oriented. I love advertising bc I’m a creative person. I was on track to go into marketing bc I took classes in high school but once I got to college I changed my mind and I’m glad I did. I would not have been happy in marketing.

Communication is largely different from social media major. Just to let you know... I took both majors actually! And while I enjoyed communication more! It was almost completely disregard as far as jobs. My degree in social media as well as minor in financing was greatly useful

I think you most likely have to go to college to obtain a job position like this. I studied Public Relations and Marketing so that may help you get a job like this in the future if you study those fields and sometimes landing these big company positions most likely comes from connections. So always try to do your opportunity of networking!!! And also don’t forget to intern. It goes a long way, trust me.

Hey Cayla! I worked for the company for 3 years and then moved to Texas so they allowed me to go remote. I recommend starting with a company where you live and if you ever want to move, you have a Chance of going remote!

hey! I'm on a salary so I get paid on a normal pay rate schedule. Go on linkedin and you can see average salaries for SMM and base it off of the market rate combined with your experience. thats how i did it!
