So, do they pay enough to get an apartment during the duration of the internship? The nearest office is 3 hr away.

In a roommate situation, yes. Last summer, the Extreme Blue program gave us a ‘living stipend’ as a lump sump in addition to hourly pay. This isn’t guaranteed for all IBM internships though

Hey i have a few questions 1.) about how much do people make here as software engineers(if you can’t disclose about how much do they make per hour? 2.) is it a 9-5/40 hour week usually? 3.) do they have open lunch rooms/cafeterias ? How ling are they open, and do they cost money 4.) what level of education do you need. I’m currently getting my masters in software engineering from a top school. Do i have a shot or do i need a PhD? Or is it certs(certifications) that matter more? **Thank you**

1.) Full-time software engineers can make as much as 150 to 200k at top tech companies in california (as new grads), and closer to 100-120k in other states. I would say most companies, including small ones, will pay over 80k on average. 2.) It will always be 9 to 5 on paper and 40 hours a week, but you can make your own schedule as long as you complete your work. So if you complete your stuff in 20 hours, you could either chill or take on more work. Some companies will have you working 50 to 60 hours a week depending on team and company maturity (startups are rough). 3.) Most big tech companies do have huge cafeterias, free food, available rooms to hang out in, etc. I would assume most cafeterias stop serving food after 5, but again, depends on the company. If thats the case, you can always buy food at vending machines or what have you. 4.) You only need to know how to code/solve problems. You dont even need a bachelors degree, just a bit of luck and lots of preparation. A masters wont help you that much unless you go into ML or research. Forget about a PHD, waste of time if you re not doing research. Of course, this is all assuming you simply want to become a SWE. ps: IBM isnt FAANG as the title would suggest lol, however it is a really large tech company (doesnt pay as much compared to other big techs though).
