you should film a “scotland capsule wardrobe” of the things you have in scotland before your US stuff arrives!!

Hi Mary! Another Expat in Europe here... I met my German husband in Austin, where I'm from, and we decided to move to Germany for him to be closer to family again about 6 years ago (I was 28 at the time). I totally understand this feeling of homesick and can see you're in a big transition phase. While I wish I could say these moments go away, they never truly do, but I promise it gets easier. It's not to say I don't still miss home - every time I'm back I go see some live music, eat some tacos, and allll the emotions come flooding back lol and while I know I don't want to move back to the US and I am very happy here, the pull of home is always something woven into us. It seems you have such a great support system with your husband and friends though, and I definitely recommend leaning into them as much as possible. That will make or break your experience :) You will have your "why the hell did I move here" moments, (mine came in the form of breaking down into a full panic attack at a post office at Christmas), but these moments will pass and the feelings of wishing you were home will eventually be replaced with warm feelings of nostalgia thinking about where you're FROM and feeling like you are HOME right where you are. Wishing you all the best and enjoy these first few months of discovering a whole new and beautiful way of living as much as possible! 🤍

Mary, you have a bit of an accent and it’s the sweetest thing 💘 It’s especially apparent on the beach when you say “you know what I mean” (15:56) and “is that a thing” (16:03)

I moved to Colorado from Louisiana 5 years ago and the first 6 months i cried all the time lol now i can’t imagine ever moving back (i do sometimes still tear up when i leave from a visit though). Just know your feelings are completely valid and normal ❤️ it’s okay to mourn your old life while being happy in your new life. I’m so happy for you and excited to watch your next adventure!

Such a fun video! I love hearing the changes in the way you speak since living in Scotland. the inflection of how you end a question goes up a couple octaves and it’s so cool and sweet 🥹

True story I could not listen to either of those songs without crying when I was stuck in the UK during the pandemic…My family is British originally but our home base for 20 years has been North Carolina….being forced away for 1.5 years during the pandemic definitely made me realize where I feel at home.

I loved all the clothes you showed but couldn’t find the links on ltk! I am not a fan of LTK - it’s not just your vlogs , I find it hard to find it hard to find specific items for most creators! Is LMNT pet friendly? I often share my water bottle with my dog on hikes.

What a cute fun vlog!! It is totally normal to feel homesick after such a big move, you don't need to apologise for discussing it and it is actually really helpful to see the realities of your move
