Get those fabric storage cubes and put the sweatshirts in the so the opening is facing you then anytime you need to put one up you can take the whole cube down and put the sweatshirt in it so it doesn’t make a mess

I like to store my sweats in a horizontal row so that there’s no mess of stacking, also since they would all be on the bottom-most part of your shelf they’ll be easier to grab and put away!

For your island why don’t you try a tiered tray? I feel like with the flat tray there is so much empty space but with the tiered tray you will have space but in smaller sections
