Unfortunately, these videos don't warrant the expense of hiring an interviewer (plus another camera) to roam around interviewing everyone. On top of that, the editing time can get out of hand, but you're absolutely right as far as production quality. Thanks for watching!

In 1975I had a Hondo 511 named Goldfever, it was painted by the great Neil Averill, it ran on the west coast in unblown fuel I was told...when I had it the engine was a Flagship Marine 468 BBC w/twin turbos drawing thru two Holley carbs...there were 54% over gears in the Casale v-drive...80mph was 3500rpm and at 5500 it was well over 100mph ..how much over I don't even want to know

The 004 "Spooky" boat was owned and raced by my father Charles Spragg to a Hi Points championship flat bottom blown gas in ADBA in 88-89. He has since passed and it awesome to see it in action again! Question... are all the flatties the same length ? Also, are the pickle forks more stable ie: less porposing ?
@Tshasta44495 жыл бұрын
Can NO d'EAU Not all flats are the same length, most common is around 19’. The porpoising is when you keep the adjustable cavitation plate up to keep as much of the hull out of the water for less drag, its a balancing act that can have disastrous results if pull too much air. 😎

How long can a typical flat bottom v-drive boat motor go before it needs to be overhauled? Obviously it depends on usage and how hard it's driven, but is it like every 100 engine hours, 500 hours or much longer? How much does a rebuild cost?
@vdrivevideo6 жыл бұрын
Because there's really no "typical" flat bottom v-drive boat it's impossible to answer this question. Some boats have highly modified engines that require a lot of maintenance and some are stock. Depends on what you build, how well you build it and maintain it as well as how often you use it and at what level.

Question: Does the rear wing actually do anything but slow the boat down?
@RsAndTechno6 жыл бұрын
keeps the stern in the water
@ct17626 жыл бұрын
that gives away their terrible handling tendency. they need weight in the stern to keep it planted, so in a way it goes faster but only because you can drive it faster without blowing over.
@Hugeroost4 жыл бұрын
ok ole Roost just dont get it, these boats are not that fast, they sound fast though. Everytime i see one i think what a waste of a big block, that motor belongs on the street kickin azz, not out here where a Merc 2.5 will suck the stickers off when it goes by. Has to be the feeling of that big hit outta the hole, which i get, but damm it plays out too quick. I used to have an STV w a 2.5 ROS and we used to pick on these boats at the lake, you just get em at a roll, they jump you a length, then you blow by em at about 70 and I still had another 40-45 mph left

Tony I love you buddy but how many flat drivers are either in wheelchairs drooling on themselves have to shit in bag or are dead because of the unpredictable and violent nature of flatbottoms. Its true that jet boats are slower in the top end but way quicker in the 1/4 mile, and we have a lot of safety equipment on jets that help keep us from being violently thrown out.
@ridered72626 жыл бұрын
??????? Jets are slower out of the hole and it doesn't matter what boat it is, Shit the only boats I have seen on the rocks on the shore have been bass boats. I mean out of control several feet up the shore.

KZbin shares a small portion of the advertisers money with those of us who qualify for their monetization program. Without that money most of us wouldn't take the time to make and share these videos. Money makes the world go round.
