As an English born Aussie can I reassure Jordan and all other UK people that snakes are not everywhere here. In my 41yrs living here I have never seen one. If you go to the far, far Outback then yes you may see one but it's not an everyday occurrence 😂 Come for a visit it's great.

You don't have to go into the outback, just anywhere there's bush. Where I lived in Newcastle growing up our house backed onto a nature reserve; we got quite a few snakes in the backyard over the years, some dead (killed and dropped by kookaburras) but some very much alive, including a lagre and inquisitive red-bellied black snake that came right up to the patio door and a brown snake in the swimming pool. But yes, some people seem to think that if you come to Sydney on holidays you'll see kangaroos bounding past the opera house and snakes crawling all over the Harbour Bridge. It's not *quite* like that :D
