Le Magnifique Village de Morat/Murten Switzerland🇨🇭 Swiss Village

The little medieval town of Murten on the south-east bank of the lake of the same name has preserved its original appearance, with the picturesque alleyways of the Old Town and the pleasant shady arcades. Situated on the language border between French and German, the town has a lovely lakeside promenade and offers a wide range of water sports, cultural activities and other excursions.
Thanks to its beautiful location on a slight hill above Lake Murten, the 800-year-old Zähringer town of Murten in the canton of Fribourg has become a popular tourist destination. In the evening, you really must watch the sunset over the lake, with magnificent views of Mont Vully and the Jura.
A town wall encircles the little town protectively. However, for a long time now the almost entirely preserved wall, the only one in Switzerland which you can walk all the way round, has not had to resist attackers, but rather has offered visitors a magnificent view of the nearby lake and the roofs of the Old Town. The museum in Murten has a large collection encompassing 6000 years of the history of the town and surrounding region (open from March to December).

a lovely video. It‘s even much more beautiful now, in summer 2024 and was just voted the most beautiful village of Switzerland in ‚24! Every single house, every fountain, every place is lovingly restored, decorated with flowers, beautifully rendered by caring owners. We were there yesterday (again) because we just can‘t get enough of Murten/Morat. We also love that it‘s a bilingual place (we are multilingual too and husband comes from Romandie). Arriving from Biel/Bienne on a ship after a meandering 3h trip on a beautiful day, mastering the steep street to the center of the old village and then enjoying a wonderful meal must be a high-point for every visitor!

I have not been in Morat in many yers. We went with our School class and our teacher challenged us to estimate how many cobblestone Murten has…… I don’t know if anybody ever really counted them. Naturally the “Stadtmauer” is a real history subject for every Swiss student to see…. Thank you so much for refreshing my memory. with this wonderful city tour.

🤣 This is the first place you've filmed that literally oozes money! That Ferrari at 14:59 costs something like US $300,000, but you can't get one because they're sold out! Yes, it's a beautiful place, but Murten (and really all of Switzerland) are existing in a bubble that the rest of the people on this planet will inevitably burst some time soon. why would anybody burst a non existing bubble? We Swiss have worked for centuries to be clean, create clean surroundings und I think we will keep it that way. I know, not every country has a history like Switzerland and we Swiss are very proud and protective of our country, its history and our way of living.

And whether you realize it or not, a lot of your prosperity comes from wealth that was illegally transferred there by criminals, stolen from destitute people all over the world. A reckoning will come, almost certainly in this century. Like I said, enjoy the fantasy while you can.
