Yes, much of the lateral resistance is not really the keel which is only a full length skeg. Most of the lateral resistance is the hard chine. In fact in light airs, you sit on the down wind side to force the chine into the water and viola! off you go!

all minor fixes a little leak some bent metal a bruised ego next weekend she will work nicely after you correct this
