I've had a lot of microphone issues recently. I've had to restart the game to get it to work right

I've been having an issue where it doesn't register at all until I change the mic and the voice recognition settings, then switch them back. And even then I struggle to get the spirit box, paw and ouija to recognise when I speak. At one point I joined a public lobby, my mic would not register in game at all, and yet everyone could hear me fine (evidenced by my voice coming back through one of their mics...) I'm on PC and I've switched permanently to the text option as it is quicker.
