I agree with you on the Marvel book quality and cost, $5 - $6 books with thin paper covers. Image, EC, even Dark Horse can put out $3-$5 books with more story pages AND card stock covers. You would expect Marvel & DC to be setting the standard for the smaller companies. Anyway Robbie I haven't missed a show in 7 yrs. and as long as you keep making em, I'll keep watchin. 😂

My comic shop today told me Diamond shut down a big warehouse for the weekend or something and books will be delayed by a day for us. Not weather related; not postal strike related (in Canada); just stupidity.

Not just for the weekend but for good. My lcs has missed two weeks of books though somehow my competitor got his. Diamond is so far off the mark right now. Firing a warehouse full of people before the holidays and during one of the biggest release date was so dumb. Good luck getting your comics at all.

Card stock cover $2.99!!! Tell you what, Spawn and his universe, is entertaining enough to be worth it. I really feel like I'm missing out on Poison Ivy. Will be picking up the trade for the weekly Superman book.

I talked with Kolins at the Memphis Comic Expo and he said James has 2 more series for Patra. Let's hope it sold enough to happen

I'm also reading Patra and enjoying it. If you like James Robinson, definitely check out his Airboy series from ten or so years ago. It's not what you think, and it was one of my favorite comic book series from the past 10 years.

Hi Robbie, Regarding the price point of McFarlane’s comics I think it comes down to marketing. I guess Todd makes his money selling toys which allows him compete and sell comics at a bargain price. He also does not need to run a comics company with a substantial back office. The other Image publications are also unable to follow suit. For instance; Saga was initially sold at 2.99, but could no longer sustain this either. Nor did Mark Millar’s initiative from e few years ago. Maybe the usp of Spawn is this selling point that gets them a lot of attention in todays market.

The first issue of Absolute Superman seemed loosely based on Elliot S! Maggin's "Must There be a Superman?", and the second issue seems to infuse elements of Future State. Enjoyable read.

30:08 I think this bit is great. Millar did the first volume of that book about vampire kids for $1.99 each issue last year... I was so hoping that that was a sign of the future, but clearly it wasn't as even the 2nd volume of that is $3.99 (maybe even $4.99).. Marvel and DC are under the impression that it isn't feasible I guess, but naturally, if you raise prices too high, you will lose sales. If Marvel and DC books were 1.99 and 2.99, they would sell so much better. I would buy the weekly Action Comics if they were 2.99 instead of 4.99+..... I would buy weekly ASM if it was 1.99... but 4.99+? HELL NO that book sucks too bad for me to spend 5 dollars on.

I've said the same thing over and over about how McFarlane can do $2.99 Card Stock Comics and the Big Two cannot! DC did a One-Shot of Two-Face during the One Bad Day series which was good .. Not sure why they're doing another one...

If we're going to ask Marvel and DC to try and match Todd, we should ask everyone else. For instance, one book I'm grabbing is 4.99 Dick Tracy. The new Terminator, 4.99. Shadowman was 4.99. And most of Image's books are 3.99. I will admit the amount of books 4.99 and over in the Big 2 seems unnecessary. But, no one in the industry is matching Spawn prices, but the Big 2 are the only ones who are mentioned.

Marvel and DC are RIPPING us off. Prices are WAY out of hand. If Todd can do $2.99 they can likely do $2.50 due to audience size and volume.

If image and Todd can make a 2.99 book then Marvel and DC can take that lump of coal out of there ass and spread some of the savings to my wallet along with everyone else's wallet!!!

The X-Men are dead. Unless they retcon that all the X-Men that were "resurrected" never happened. Beast did not die, (at least at the time of "new Beast's resurrection"), showing for 100% sure that these new X-Men are just clones. They are different people. Its not reincarnation, its a completely separate person. You can have 2 of the same X-Men alive at the same time. This was the biggest mistake in comics history in my option and I will not read X-Men any longer. Ill read a one off, or a Wolverine vs Predator or something. But was a lazy ass way to try to fix Beast. With all their time travel, and alternate futures and the Phoenix -- X-Men has just jumped the shark too often and became to convoluted... So half of the X-Men died on the Sentinel factory in space, Wolverine, Cyclops, etc. For all we know the real Wolverine is still alive floating in space somehow, the one we have isn't really him. Its a photocopy. And by the end of run pretty much every other X-Men had died at some point. Kitty Pride, Domino... If i clone you and send the clone to your house while you and your family are eating dinner, and it has your old memories, is that you? No. So the whole kraakoa thing ruined X-Men for me. Ruined the value of life. Hell Nightcrawler, the religious conscience of the X-Men, didn't once speak up to the atrocities they were committing, between their weird prison, letting villains on their council, or even (especially) watching Apocalypse brutally beat Cannonballs sister to death in an honor killing... The dude has died and came back with no soul, he'd be the first one to speak up about not committing suicide to hope you come back as a clone with powers. (Many X-Men killed themselves because they had been de-powered previously, and when your clone came back the yd have the powers, its was the worst), Thats not how it works, your DEAD. So the X-men are done for me, it was a terrible narrative choice, worst X-men run ever, there are barely any real X-Men left. Only a few didn't go through the resurrection protocols (Colossus? Nightcrawler? Storm?)
