Bummer for Biktrix, hopefully the thieves get caught. Hard to hide a container with 6 figures worth of stolen goods for a long period. Good coverage on the other two brands, albeit everyone should realize the two bikes compared are very boutique like so to be pricey: -Owned a Buzzraw X (with HV kit, custom batt many of you have seen it in photos) the BBSHD model is the way to go. Frame is solid, not a PAS or peddle type bike. -Still own the first Ristretto released the 303 FS: it uses a CYC motor x1 pro too. company has a lower price point, but has had long delays on both releases, we all know CYC motors can have reliability issues, glad the Ristretto I have is a more modifiable frame, if the CYC parts don't last. Will be interesting to see both brands in the future, think they both need to find ways to be competitive (lots of ebike brands nowadays).

I suspect they will offload pretty fast. Appreciate your comments on the Ristretto from a guy that has first hand experience with both bikes.

I don't care what people say, we are still lacking in a really well rounded bike from comfort to looking good to excellent battery performance seat adjustability. Hitting all areas of a Ebike build.

@@HighVoltageKits I like the idea of having at least two Ebikes, we have are full size Ebikes and then the compact Ebikes which really are a very convenient to have. Good power and comfort and a stable ride is what should be the focus for going small.

Great content as always. I've bought the ToSeven DM02 with a 36w battery which will be fitted to a trike once it arrives. Thanks for this video. You are dead on about the Ristretto. I have gone over the spec's and just ordered the A24. The seat has been upgraded to a thicker one for more comfort & the motor is the Gen 4.

i've been looking at that pinion bike for a week. i don't understand why what they tried to achieve here. the whole point of pinion is you can get down to a short climbing gear while still using large diametre tyres. for bmx wheels you can get away with using an alfine hub while still having 19 inches on the lowest (150 cm forward movement each rotation of the crank) while still staying within the torque limit of the hub. (minimum 1.8:1 ratio of chainring and cog for alfine e.g. 36x20, no such limit for pinion of course) using pinion for a small wheel bike, especially electric, just seems like a wasted pinion p1.6.

Yeah I can see what you’re saying. I think they were going for ultra low maintenance in a city bike. To some extent I’m just happy it’s not an elitism thing. Have also heard you can’t shift under load though which negates the appeal as well.
@markifi7 ай бұрын
@@HighVoltageKits i've been having a conversation with gearbox designer Eunsoo Han about his All-to gearbox (still in the prototype phase), and he tells me while it's possible to shift the lever at any time, the actual shift only occurs when you let off the pedals. I don't suppose Pinion is different from this. I don't think this is a big deal as long as the electric power is coming through the hub, and not through the gearbox.

Is it possible to bench test an EBike motor for peak speed (angular velocity) watts? Can you run the prescribed volts to the motor through an ammeter in series, wind out the motor to top angular velocity & then read the amps (then calculate input watts by amps x volts? That should give a low watts result, as a motor with no external load should use minimum watts (max at start up). Then from that one can know that the mechanical watts output is something less than that (given inefficiency & heat production). This idea comes to me as way of complying with watts restrictions on EBikes: quote the watts as less than (USA) 750W this way. But do all Ebike motors have internal controllers which complicate this idea? So far as I know, all the watts restrictions are purely restriction on the motor with no mention of what load or EBike they drive. I would like to see a demo of such a bench test.
@HighVoltageKits7 ай бұрын
Potentially. I don’t have anything that can do this though. I really hope the restrictions get adjusted so it’s more about riding responsibility than draconian limits. An interesting thing is that companies like Bosch get to create and do their own testing. They are all over the legal limits. Very much like the VW diesel gate thing

Severely underpowered from battery side. It should be illegal to make batteries that go above their cell draw limits this much. Cell life will be really bad and user needs to find a local batterymaker to repack and fix the battery with better cells. 50S, 40E, P42A, P45B so many cells to choose from and they decided to cut corners.

Yes the battery Would will drain out extremely fast whith a h High Amp controller and motor. It's why all the NEW Bikes coming our that have more power have 60v and 72V batteries. Ristretto is DATED on all the Specs with Last Year's Technology and expectations.

As cheap and reliable as Shimano drive trains are, I don't understand the pinion / Gates hype, given the expense..Alot of people with hub motor Ebikes never leave 7th gear for the most part..And your not fixing the pinion system, but could easily fix a Shimano drive train for minimal expense..

Total valid points. If it ain't broke don't fix it has merit. I was just happy to see it make a bike with a reasonable price. How long it lasts is another question.
