One comment from here circulates in twt, saying absolute pitch or perfect pitch isn't special since he is a trained singer and many have it. The OP says he plays piano for a long time and can recognize notes as well after years of practice. However, Absolute pitch and Pseudo-absolute pitch are two different things. 1. The video says Heeseung discovered his perfect pitch when he was young meaning prior training. Absolute pitch is an innate talent, you either have it or not at all. Pseudo-absolute pitch is acquired through training/practice. 2. Notice how Heeseung is humming the notes. A person with absolute pitch can reproduce and recognize the notes just by hearing it without reference points because AP's are utilizing mental imagery or sensorimotor. Pseudo-absolute pitch can recognized notes but with reference to other notes which they learn from training. 3 Notice how Heeseung said he can identify the pitch of his father's fart, there's also one video clip where Hee's absolute pitch was tested using a xylophone. A person with absolute pitch can recognize pitch from various instrument or a pitch of everyday sound like car's horn to a cry of a baby. Pseudo-absolute pitch can only recognize pitch from the instrument used in training and will usually get confused with other instrument and will be challenging to identify pitch of everyday sound. 4. The ratio of a person with AP is 1:10000 according to research. 5. Absolute pitch is an innate talent. you either have it or not at all. People born with mastery of notes in a very young age are considered gifted/prodigy when they are young and genius as an adult. I therefore conclude, Heeseung is a Music Genius with Absolute Pitch.
