Great wrap-up, Debs 😊Oryx and Crake - I've had that on my list for ages, I really like the sound of it, though I've heard before how dark it is. I think it's one where I need to be in the right frame of mind to tackle it! I'll definitely get to it though. The banning of books makes me so angry, but the destroying of books is abhorrent, and it scares the hell out of me. I'm like you when it comes to Audible - get as many books as poss for each credit! I use the 2 for 1 sales a lot and buy packs of books too. We're not cheapskates - just efficient in our use of resources 😜Tey's books sound interesting - not necessarily my thing, but I'm definitely going to see if my mum and dad have read them as they love their crime and mystery. Don't think I've ever seen any on their bookshelves, so I'll point them in the direction of the Alan Grant books! 👍

Thanks for another great video. I share your horror regarding banned book activities currently taking place. I am a woman in my mid seventies and never could have ever imagined that books would be banned in the United States. It infuriates and frightens me.

@@lindawalker2451 thank you. I agree this new step up in the banning of books is terrifying

Hi Debs. Great video. I, too, have wondered about reading sprints. Glad that you dropped in and had such a great experience. No wonder you kept saying that Oryx and Crake was not at all what you expected. I had to laugh when I saw the cover on your version. Oh my goodness. Talk about misleading covers! Yes, it looks like it's going to be a folksy story. Good God! It could not have been less homey or folksy. Good luck with the rest of the trilogy. It's all just a bit too dark for me right now. Maybe someday....

@@BookChatWithPat8668 thank you Pat. Yes the comparison with my Oryx and Crake cover and content was pretty striking 😂. I did really enjoy my first reading sprint. There were lots of people there and we did three lots of 25 minutes reading followed by five minutes chat. It was lots of fun 😊

In the home stretch for The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. Have a few other books I'm reading, but will definitely finish this one first.

@@LoveShannon oh happy reading. I read that years ago and feel I ought to reread it soon 😊

Hi Debs. Try get your RWYO challenge number down below 100 before it starts and give yourself a psychological edge. I'll join you with a smaller number but it is much needed.

@@helenclare3250 mine is much needed too. I think you’re right, I really want to get down below 100 before it starts 😊

I read the MaddAdam trilogy when it came out and enjoyed it, I prefer her non science fiction stuff generally though, and I find her insistence on not calling it science fiction annoying.
@RaynorReadsStuffАй бұрын
@@AaronReadABook I didn’t realise she did that. This is definitely science fiction, whatever she wants to call it 😁. I don’t know when I will get around to the other two but I do want to read them while book 1 is fresh in my mind 😊
