The Neo SD Pro also has link play. But it would only allow link to one other cart. But the Back Bit has two link ports allowing proper daisy chain for games like league bowling which has two ports - you can link up to 4 consoles. League bowling, thrash rally have 4 console support. Riding Hero has one link support. 4 link was intended but cut. There is a very rare version of Kizuna Encounter that has 4 players through the use of a special Jamma board.

@15:10 Love that the Tink4k Pro is getting more features to reduce motion blur. CRT still beats my modern TVs BFI for motion clarity. Maybe one day Mike will give us a "Tink eXtreme" that can do 4k, Beam Emulation, and CRT filters to completely rival the CRT.

35:00 - I absolutely love my 2.0 audio set up in my game room. Just a cheap little $40 stereo from Amazon powering my old big box front speakers, and its perfect for retro games. Definitely a nostalgia of playing 2.0 over 5.1 with retro gaming on a CRT, even with more modern consoles like 360 and PS3.

My Alienware 4k240 Scaled the 1080p image shockingly well. It was sooooooo clear at 240hz but it certainly wasn't bright. Also, Bob, when/if you go to buy, there are "Dual Mode" 4k240 monitors on the market that do 1080p480, perfect 1080p scaling. LG and Asus currently offer them.

Pre ordered 2 retro fighters pads just what I was looking for 😊
@eliotcole8 сағат бұрын
I have always said that the 'Saturn' pad was the best ever ... but the truth is that it's actually the ASCII Fight Pad (maybe that's fight pad ii) for the Dreamcast, which was an evolution of that pad. This was an official 6-button pad, at the time ... but I believe it was made by HORI ... I could be completely wrong on all accounts, there, though. 😅 The reason I mention all that is that those Retro Fighters controllers look to be VERY much modelled on *that* particular pad ( _of which a version was _*_also_*_ released for _*_PS2_* ) ... which is super amazo.

Not sure if it's interesting to anyone here, but Dragonbox Shop in Germany managed to get 8bitdo to manufacturer them a bunch of their small NES keyboards with the proper german QWERTZ layout. I'm curious if that'll mean we might see more non-US layouts in the future, or if it was basically just a one-off because Dragonbox threw a bunch of money at them to foot the production run. Price is the same as the regular US one, which is nice.

RetroFighters has been awesome for me. Yes their controllers feel a bit cheaper, but they work, and they are actually priced cheaper than some competition like 8bitdo. I bought their N64 brawler controller years ago, and after a few months I was confused about how to get it to work with Nintendo Switch Online's N64 stuff. I emailed their support and they explained that only the newer brawler model (now the only model I think) works with NSO. I knew mine was released before NSO had N64, but figured there would be a patch or something (mine was a wired controller that could not accept a patch). In their response, they offered to send me a free newer model for me to use. Now don't expect them to send you free stuff all the time but that was just really cool of them, they figured having multiple models was confusing and offered me a freebie to fix it. I didn't even ask for that. Got my baja blast 64 controller from that. Also I've since bought a 6-button Genesis-style USB-controller from them, and a wireless PS2 controller from them (compatible with PS1, and also with PS3 via a USB dongle included). I used the PS2 controller on my PS2, PS3, and PC. So yeah I admit their controllers are a bit cheap feeling, but they're excellent value and they offer unique controllers nobody else does. I'm waiting for the PS3-specific controller to be back in stock (different from the one I bought, has gyro and works wirelessly without a USB dongle). I honestly want to get their Xbox controller just for use on PC. And I like to check out their site for any other unique controllers like this Dreamcast one. Worth noting they also sell dreamcast-compatible gamepads on their site, shaped like a modern controller, not just the fighter pad shown in this video.

That new dreamcast controller is like an ascii pad, I use one for shooters but it will not work with games like cannon/gun spike because you need the triggers from the oem dc controller
@RetroRGB4 сағат бұрын
I believe you can set the controller into different trigger modes. I could be wrong though - Please check the product page.

Im starting to see clones of the satiator pop up on aliexpress for between 80 to 130 dollars so im wondering if thats the reason for the price reduction. Either way ive always thought it was a bit overpiced but i stil dont condone copying anyones design kinda of sucks for the creator. Depending on the quality of the cIone i can see this one going the same way as the gdemu where the clones will just take over.

No point in buying a neo geo mvs flash cart to use with a goofy adapter for your aes. Its an eyesore, and if you're spending that much money you might as well hold off until you can buy a aes flashcart like neo sd pro regardless of the faster loading times on this new backbit flashcart. Hopefully an aes version of the backbit flashcart comes out.

Is the MemCard Pro for the PS1 completely discontinued now? I know the Pro 2 can do both PS1 and PS2, but I didn't realize how hard it is to find them now. I'm also still hoping some sort of Translucent Midnight Blue color will be made for the Pro 2.
@kameoosama2 сағат бұрын
I'm pretty sure when I got my memcard pro the pro 2 was already out so they'll probably restock it at some point. That said, I was waiting quite a while for them to restock the pro 2 and the pro GC is out of stock too so it might be prudent to hop on the memcard pro 2 while you can anyway

great video!... BTW, for those CRT beam emulation can be done in software emulation for PC. I believe there is already some Retroarch has its feature, which means you don't need RT4K pro to experience CRT beam emulation for now. I hope other PC emulators follow this great feature builtin. For other real game console hardware... yup you need RT4K pro. For PC ? you just need higher HZ monitor(OLED is way better).
@natese84065 сағат бұрын
Pair a Tink4k with a MiSTer and the CRT emulation works great out of the box. With PC CRT emulation, I wasted more time trying to get it right than just playing games, and often it would still have issues like subtle scrolling shimmer, or it didn't handle in game resolution changes. If you know a reliable method for getting CRT emulation on PC without these issues, let me know so I can try again (I use RetroArch and ReShade)

Depends what your needs are. As Bob mentioned, compatibility and MPEG support are some other factors. The biggest factor is whether you intend to play any of the online library that the Saturn has. If you want to do that, then the Satiator or an ODE like the MODE are your only options.

lol satiator for 200 still, i can't see people even sniffing at it with the price and performance of a saroo, i still haven't ran into a game on the saroo that hasn't ran, and only a few of them have i had to add timing delays in the config file to get a problem game running correctly.

im confused why some manufacturers are praised for recreating original console shells and others are treated like they are "stealing" ideas. didnt everyone whos *not* Sega essentially "steal" the design? im confused why ive heard you talk down about the shells from aliexpress. i got one for my SNES that was only like $20 and was totally satisfied with the quality. where is the moral issue coming from?
@Nilbelec8 сағат бұрын
I think the difference is the effort put into it. At least to me, getting an original shell and try to improve it with new ideas or materials is not the same as replicating and cloning other one work and sell it for less. R&D takes time and effort, and imho it should be paid and supported
@mjc09618 сағат бұрын
There's a lot of work that goes into making these shells. Scans of original shells, cleaning up said scans in CAD software, getting all the tooling and molds made in factories, Company A does all that work and then sells high quality replacement shells for a high (but not overpriced!) price that reflects all the time, money, and effort that went into making the new shells a reality. Company B comes along and steals all the work that Company A did, and just has shells of their own made without as much attention to quality. They get to charge less because they don't have to recover all the upfront cost like company A does, now company A is undercut and may not be able to continue operating and they close down, and we don't get whatever next replacement shell they were working on. It's the same complaint against anything being cloned in this hobby. Support original creators instead of cloners, otherwise the original creators will have to walk away to make a living elsewhere and we won't get any new mods or scalers or shells or other cool things. The scumbag clone companies aren't going to make them, they don't make things, they just steal from other people who did the hard work. Focusing on "but it was SEGA/Nintendo/Sony/etc's shell design" is missing the point. It's not about who designed the shell originally, it's about who put in the effort to get high quality reproduction shells made.
@cedarstuff8 сағат бұрын
Yes, there is some gatekeeping around the "preferred sellers". Some companies can enable and promote piracy and IP/copyright infringement, and some must be shunned!
@adamatomant33817 сағат бұрын
This is a loaded question. If someone got out their calipers and reverse engineered something, that isn't stealing. And the ones Bob is promoting are made from higher quality injection molds. The plastic probably has some UV protection and will last as long as the original. If someone gains access to some CAD files that weren't intended to be publicly released or doesn't properly credit an open source design, that is stealing. Worse than that, they don't have to build cost into the time it took to develop something. A crappy clone is possibly reverse engineered or isn't, but is made with crappier materials. That's not stealing, but is a crappy product, nonetheless. Some clones even use the branding from the original person who actually did the work in order to deceive you, the customer. That is stealing and is also a crappy clone. Ali Express has good and bad products. Your shell might have been reverse engineered but just made with passable materials. Time will tell if it is actually is a good quality product. Maybe your seller made a million of these fantastic quality shells in China 15 years ago and is just trying to clear inventory. Bob has the burden of a responsibility to steer people in a reputable direction. He does not like to tell people to spend money on anything, without some sort of vetting. He seems to take the approach of, "I'd rather tell you to buy something for $60 that works, than to tell you to buy something for $20 only for it to snap when threading a self tapping screw." He's not "gatekeeping" certain developers or manufacturers. He promotes people he believes are not scamming people. And he tears into people he knows make crappy stuff.
