There was a study comparing the effect of cocaine and cold showers. It showed that the maximum dopamine release which is why people do cocaine for that feeling is the same. The different is for cocaine it peaks straight away whereas with cold showers it peaks when you are out.

Fabulous! I do cold showers too. And ice baths. It is all about breathing techniques. See if you can find few videos of Wim Hof explaining how he does the breath and cold showers and ice baths. Or better yet sign up for his on line course Fundamentals (I hardly recommend). Practicing his breath technique every morning makes me happy for no reason and it regulates my mood in such a simple yet beautiful way:) I swear by it. Love seeing you smiling. xoxo

I live near the beaches of Newcastle (NSW) and i am always hearing surf reports saying that the ocean temp is around 18 degrees in Winter..
