For one thing, Keyleth isn’t an elf. She’s a second-generation half-elf (a child of two half-elves). Her expected natural lifespan (like Vex and Vax) is roughly 180-200 years, of which she’s lived maybe 25, tops. Gnomes, on the other hand, live something like 500 years. Scanlan was 69 at start of play, and I believe Pike was somewhere in her 40s, which is roughly the gnomish equivalent of being about 26 and 20, respectively.
@ematuskeyАй бұрын
To clarify, Percy totally stayed the night (it was bright morning when he and Vax had their Moment in the hallway), so Vex wasn't upset about him leaving--they couldn't stay in bed forever, after all. ;) It was fun to see them both over-thinking it afterwards: Percy wanting to discuss "what it means," and Vex already thinking of all the ways it could go wrong, so betternot to go any further.

So about everyone's lifespans, Goliaths have similar lifespans to humans so Grog and Percy will die the earliest if not killed. Half Elves like Vex, Vax, and Keyleth can live over 180 years. Gnomes on average can live to be between 350 and 500 years. The reason Keyleth will outlive them is because as a druid she ages much slower, 1 year for every 10 she's alive, which stretches her 180 years much further than even Pike and Scanlan's possible lifespans.

The following is based a lot on memory and wiki checks. Vex and Vax are first generation Half-Elves, Dad an Elf, mother a human. They're both about 28 years old when the story start, but had to grow up in a human-dominated world, so they're pretty much adults already, having to grow up quickly. Keyleth is a legacy Half-Elf, both parents being Half-Elves with varying degrees of elf and humans. She's about 28ish as well, but she grew up fairly sheltered, in a society with a lot of other half-elves, so her personality can come off as much younger. Percy is a human and about 25-27 years old, and as such actually age-wise THE youngest in the group. Grog is a goliath and supposedly in his late 30s. Pike is a gnome and of similar age as Grog. Scanlan is also a gnome, and, by design, about 69 years old, with Kaylie being in her 20s. Lady Kima is a Halfling.

That is until said offspring is old enough to have its own opinions and maybe become a threat. At that point it moves from property to competition/rival and had best make itself gone quick-like before mommy/daddy deals with it the way a red dragon deals with _anything_ that might be a threat or competition. I'd say blues, being lawful evil, quite intelligent and patient probably make for strict parents demanding their offspring excel in their studies and training. I'd say they actually might cooperate or be on good/cordial terms with their offspring once they move out to establish their own lair. I could easily see a blue dragons having a very strict family hierarchy, almost like an army. Whites I don't know. I think it's pretty fair that almost every reactor keeps confusing Keyleth as a full-elf rather than a half-elf. Even in the campaign, Matt had to clear up a little confusion on the matter with other players when the party met Keyleth's father, who is half-elven, and it was a very brief moment in a campaign of thousands of hours. I think a lot of it comes from two facts: Because she is a half-elf born from two half-elfs rather than a human/elf couple, when we got the flashback with Keyleth's parents it isn't very visually clear that they aren't full elves and there isn't any reason to bring it up in dialogue. And, because the Ashari Tribes are a multi-species society, Keyleth doesn't have the same sort of baggage around being a half-elf that Vex and Vax do since they were pulled away from their loving human mother at a young age to live with their father in an elven city that continually saw them as lesser due to their heritage. Vex and Vax's traumas over how they were treated on their heritage are very clear through the show so it sticks out in peoples mind compared with Keyleth so it's easy to see why people make the mistake over and over, even people who watched the campaign have made the mistake.

@@caffeinedelusions ok that’s where I was confused. I remember seeing in the show that they were both elven with the pointy ears on 2x5. Thanks for the explanation.

And to think, you're only a quarter of the way through the season. EDIT: Lady Kima is a Halfling, not a Gnome. Same VA as Vaggie from Hazbin Hotel season one and Mirabel from Encanto, in case anyone needed the reminder. And maybe I'm hoping she gets a musical number later on. And quick little bit of streamed campaign lore: Laura Bailey, voice of Vex, loves to lean into the sex jokes and innuendos at the table.

Yeah, Keyleth will live for a very long time. You can think of her as basically a God.

"That's one way to answer a door". That's... Laura Bailey 😆 And yeah, juxtaposing *those* two scenes with each other was mean 😅

Hey Wee Lass, First of all, love the reaction, and maybe it's because i had to raise the audio decently loud for the vox machina voice, but there was some water-waves and static sound in background. I probably wouldnt have heard it if vox machina voices were louder and i didnt need to buff it, but otherwise, nice reaction though hahaha

"Kima with the hot goss, spill it, girl," is such a Travis thing to say. If he didn't write the line, then kudos to whichever writer nailed his sense of humor.

If you think the party relationships are complicated now… just wait until Raishan pulls a stunning plot twist by confessing her own feelings for Percy, right in front of Vex!

I've never seen an arrow go UP someone's nose before... and that was before Raishan got back into dragon form.

You and Elijah both are going to get "vex'd" this episode.😉

Gnomes can live up to 500 years, but elves up to 750 Keylith is a half elf, but she's a druid. In dnd druids age slower, specifically they age 1 year every 10

Knowing Vox Machina episodes aren't doing that well tells me that Mosco's average viewer needs to be introduced to Grogg's fists
