Whoever is pruning this garden has shown, in some instances, tremendous imagination and creativity, and in other instances, tremendous restraint; a rare mix of skills, and a style rarely seen in conifer gardens, especially in eastern North America, well done.

Very Beautiful and very impressive. I also live in a zone 5. I have become a conifer addict the last few years. It's very addicting collecting such beautiful plants. I'm sure your time flies by working in your garden, but it does look like a lot of hard work. I'm sure it's close to a full time job. What is the acreage of your beautiful garden?

Hi Stephen, thank you for taking a walk through my garden. Flowers fade and have a short season, confers have colour and interesting shapes year round. Other than candeling and pruning there is very little maintanace. Keeping the fridge stocked with worms for the frogs can be challenging 😀 There are a lot of worse things to be addicted to than beautiful things. What part of the world are you in ?
@stephenbarnhill91045 ай бұрын
@vanishingfalls I live in Southeast Idaho, in a place called Sugar City. What part of canada do you live in? I think I saw a weeping cobra in your garden. I need to get one of those. My favorite tree is a serbian spruce "skytrails". It has a lovely sweeping to the branches. Also weeping white spruce is a favorite. I am just finishing up the planting with the large trees in my garden. Next I will start collecting the smaller dwarf varieties. What are your favorites from your garden? Do you spray for pine wevil and or other pests?

@@stephenbarnhill9104 hi Stephen My garden is in southern Ontario on the Trent Severn waterway. Yes, I have a large ‘Cobra’ , I used ’Gold drift’ as a pollen parent last year on it and it developed some nice cone and seeds. Weeping white spruce is one of my favourites too. No, I don’t spray any conifers, but I have for Gypsy moth on birch and beech. Keep on planting 😀
@stephenbarnhill91045 ай бұрын
@vanishingfalls those hybrid cones of cobra and gold drift sound amazing. That will be exciting to see how they develop. Thanks so much for the replies. You are an inspiration

Those side growing branches would be so beautiful growing out over a lake or pond so they could be reflected in the water. Perhaps you could build a big pond under that really big one.
