I am in Tokyo now, I was here same April 2023. I can tell you domestic economy is definitely better than a year ago. But using US$ in Japan is still so inexpensive. For food and restaurants are about half of the prices that I have to pay in San Diego, CA. The food here in incredibly good! Hotels cost is a different matter. So many foreign and domestic tourists. I was in Japan in 1980s too, my wife’s family lives in Tokyo. It was the most expensive city in the world back then. The difference is night and day. I also visited Toyota museum near Nagoya where its HQ is. I can tell it doesn’t look good with pressures from Chinese auto industry. But I have no doubt that Japanese people can still live well because they are hard working and dedicated to what they do. Just may not have the luxury for other things.

并不是,汇率低对来旅游的人们当然很爽,但是资源都靠进口的国家来说,物价一直再涨!

This time is different, US is coming for Japan's money to solve their problems and Japan has no chance to refuse it.

@@成品半-l7k Globalization is inevitable, no country can do well without it. The question is how a country manages its internal financial matters. I was in mainland China for 9 days a couple of weeks ago. And I was surprised how inexpensive is there for me from SoCal. One thing for sure, both countries make exports more favorable.
