@anybody25019 жыл бұрын
It's sad how many people don't like or understand the video. Rivers is very much a romantic. The dude is basically perpetually heart broke. The song is a basically a tribute to the women in his life or how he views women and himself in general. He feels naïve/immature around them, or that they act older or more mature than he does. It's a love ballad and an appeal for them to not take him so seriously or to give him a chance. It's really very touching.

One of my favorite things about this song, is how the chord progression in the chorus feels more like a chord progression in a verse, and the chord progression in the verses feel like that of a chorus, musically I’ve always thought that made this song so unique.

Usually the stuff that sounds good to my ear instantly I get bored of quicker, maybe there’s less depth to it to me, I dunno. But Ok Human I think is very good, their best since the White Album, very different, some truly beautiful music and some excellent Rivers vocals and thoughtful to funny lyrics. Love the little bit at the end of Mirror Image where he threw in what sounds like some early demo lyrics, and crack up at the end of Screens when he says “I miss my friends, I miss my family”, gives me a great visual of them being right next to him yet glued to their phones.

I was initially fearful of this song due to its title (the phrase"L.A. Girlz" by itself seems like an attempt to pander to the young crowd), but within the first few seconds of this song, all uncertainties evaporated. All of the factors that plagued Weezer in the 2000s are non-existent here. Whew - you scared me, Rivers! I am buying this album on day one.

+claire de la lune. The producer is a member on the AllThingsWeezer forum and he said that despite the experimentation on tracks like Thank God For Girls and a BIT on Jacked Up, the album is going to be classic sounding Weezer with melodies that sound like they were written by Brian Wilson. A ringing endorsement. For the record, I think TGFG really harkens back to the emotions on Pinkerton, even though the sound is kind of a mash up between Soul Coughing and They Might Be Giants in places.
@SWoyke9 жыл бұрын
+ZyxthePest Ooh! Thank you for the information; this album is going to be exciting. From song titles alone, I am still a bit curious on what "Jacked Up" will be like, but what you stated about its experimentation loosens me a bit. I'm relieved that the producer worked Weezer to achieve their 90s sound. This album will not be a weak effort.
@ZyxthePest9 жыл бұрын
"It has one of my favorite drum performances on the record. Definitely one of the more forward thinking tracks, more in line with TGFG, but without any controversial rapping. It's dark, in a really cool way, and we used layers of feedback to help create tension." - Producer Jack Sinclair (On Jacked Up)

Perfect Weezer. The chorus and esp the bridge is full of so much heartache, romanticism and beauty. What makes Weezer so powerful though is that there is a sense of celebration, triumph. Those Weezer choruses, man! Holiday, In The Garage, El Scorcho, Suzane, the list goes on.

I really like Thank God For Girls... especially after EWBAITE. I love EWBAITE, but my main problem with it is that there isn't a lot of new. It sounds way to similar to their old stuff and I love it when bands experiment. So, hey if there is only a couple tracks that do that on this album I'd be okay with it because at the end of the day I still enjoy Classic Sounding Weezer. And that's what this song is! Super Blue Album-esque. Do You Wanna Get High is Pinkerton-ish and King of the World is really Green.
