You’ re so emotional after watching it. So did I. A big hug first. The first scene was an imagination because they were both dead in the music video. Jolin was killed by that guy who made a drug deal at the beginning of the story. Her boyfriend got revenge for Jolin , but he was killed as well. This is a tragedy love story.

Awwww, It was so much to take in, and her videos ALWAYS move me completely... BIG HUGS to you as well :) I really wish I would have understood better, WHENEVER I watch her videos!... Both Jolin and Rhydian Vaughan (the actor who plays Jolin’s boyfriend) were dead in this MV. In my opinion, Jolin’s death and Rhydian’s death reflect two different concepts about death. In the movie “The Sixth Sense”, Haley Joel Osment points out that when people die, they don’t know they are dead. They just continue “their lives” till certain point when they realize they are actually not on this earth anymore. This is similar to Jolin’s role in this MV, which she seemed to continue her life and became a police officer as if she was still alive even she’d been murdered by the drug dealer. On the other hand, one Japanese theory believes that when a person is about to die, his or her beloved ones who have already passed away would show up, leading that dying person through the fear of death. This oriental concept coincides the story line of Rhydian’s role. In the very beginning of the MV during the fight scene he saw Jolin bust in as a police officer, and later it shows that that scene is actually right before his being shot. Jolin’s presence before Rhydian’s death fits this Japanese idea of what a dying man would see. In the end, both lovers realized with regret that they are no longer in this universe......

No problem, man. After watching this MV, it just occurred to me what I’d seen in The Sixth Sense and during my trip in Uji, Japan. There is a beautiful temple in Uji built in the 11th Century called Byodoin, in which there is a famous painting on the wall depicting ancient Japanese concept of the process of death. The beginning of the MV when Jolin and Rhydian met reminds me of the part of the painting about a dying man greeted by his late family members in front of Buddha. It is interesting that Nicole Kidman has a movie called “The Others”. The story seems to follow the similar idea as what Haley Joel Osment says about the dead people in “The Sixth Sense”. Just thought about it. Hmmm...The director of this MV is the same one who directed Jolin’s “Lady in Red”. He is a movie director who is known for making thriller/scary/ghost movies in Taiwan. He should have watched “The Sixth Sense” and “The Others”, and now I highly suspect that he might have included those western death elements in the screenplay of this MV...

Thanks for Yu H ~ We all love Jolin. Yu H She released this mv on July 7, which is the International Anti-Drug Day. This song is actually titled The Death of Romance in Chinese. I didn't get the story at first either but then I read from someone else's comment. They said that the scene when they meet again in the police station is after their death (she died first and then he also died after trying to seek revenge for her). They could have a beautiful life together, but due to that he was involved in drug dealings, their hope and dream disappeared as well. So this song in a way is intended to persuade young people to be away from drugs because drugs will inevitably ruin one's life, including romance. Please react to Jolin's Lady in Red too. Jolin Tsai has collaborated with a movie director for two songs (Romance and Lady in Red) in her recent album (I think she released the songs first and then the director came with a storyline for the songs but the music producer and mv director could have worked in tandem too). Since the music videos were produced from a movie director, they both have a complete storyline to match the original songs. Even they last only a few minutes, I feel as if I have watched a whole movie!
