It's a grey area calling this figure a KO actually. There's so many engineering differences that it could be just called another third party homage to Ironhide as opposed to just another knock off Masterpiece figure. Personally, I love this figure. I think he scales better with Optimus at least in robot mode. Great review Ben.

Nice review! Little fun fact: while Ironhide was quite big in the toon, in real life the Nissan Vanette is tiny. Its wheelbase it's shorter than the beetle's one. So, in alt mode even the regular MP27 is a bit too big with the other carbots (but in the same ballpark anyway...)

Thank you very much for this review! I am an original TF fan from the 80’s but only recently started looking at Masterpiece class versions. I am very apprehensive when it comes to knock-offs and such, especially at premium prices. I’ve seen some of these listed for more affordable prices so if I can find one that fits the bill, as it were, then all the better! The elongated facial features seem anime-inspired, or maybe from Renegades. It’s good to see Ironhide as a full character model like this. I always thought the original 80’s one was a bit lacking. The windshield was all wrong (On Ratchet too). Thanks again!

Out of curiosity I looked it up, according to Wikipedia at least the Volkswagen Beetle is actually longer than the standard Nissan Vanette. MY biggest disappointment is the lack of the drill accessory that was included with the 2nd run Ironhide (the diecast accessory)

Got my copy yesterday and only got 2 minor issues which are a small scratch at the screaming face and the left flipping piece at the crotch is loose but no biggie. Joints are great and the overall quality is what you expect from WJ. Now for the NE-01 waiting game...

Super review as always only thing I would have liked to have seen is if you could have shown Optimus Bumblebee and Ironhide with the Tanaka oversized Sideswipe because I think he fits right along with the rest of them I do agree that bumblebee is a little too big but otherwise keep up the good work

Right at the waist they shortened the crotch section. You can see it by the distance of the two squares compared side by side. I like these fixes, but it's to big. If your into MPP scale, it looks good, but I'm into just MP scale.

Thanks this review convinced me to buy him. The modifications are a great bonus and with the diecast makes for a great figure. The face is ok not bad. He looks great next to mpp10.

HI Ben you just miss to flip out both side mirror in the transformation, I just got mine today :) awesome ... and with the mirror flipped out, it's easier to adjust the front bumper correctly. By the way I haven't the gun you found on your floor. Thank you for the review

WJ's MPP line cannot be called KO. They are significantly different and better. (1) Oversized, (2) Different proportions (e.g., longer legs on MPP10), (3) New engineering, (4) Different/better paint apps, (5) Different face sculpts. WJ is a legitimate 3P.

The side skirts and rear wheels never bugged me, seems like a LOT of extra moves just to get them into a more bulky lower back...just my opinion

YES! I've been waiting for this review! I love the bot mode, face looks meh, but you get two of those, so might be able to resculpt one yourself aye? The Altmode however is way too big. It accually ONLY scales realistically with that KBB OS Bumblebee. Rember that the Cherry Vanette is allmost one of the K-car sized vans. The real van is a rough 40cm less wide then a Countach LP500S. The black panel top is realistic to the original Nissan Cherry Vanette C120 Grand Saloons Panorama Roof, which came on pretty much all of the luxury variants. (which explaigns why Ratchet doesn't have it, as he's a commercial variant C120.) I will be getting this if only for the bot mode next to my MPP10's.

The eyes are too wide open. Nose is maybe to long indeed but hard to judge on film. They should make this version in normal MP scale, with a better face.
