Roll centers and polar moment of inertia. The lower the weight is the harder it is for the tires to lift it, causing the tire to press down into the track to move that weight. The closer the weight is to theoretical center of mass of the car the easier it is to change that theoretical center of mass with suspension adjustments. That way you can adjust the car without actually having to physically move weight.

I’ve got an all stock type suspension and stock weight + 95 C1500 with a 496ci bbc (with AC even) on Pro 275s that weighs 4160lbs with a little over 60% of that weight on the nose. With 2500lbs out front and only 1660lbs on the rear axle I’m STILL having trouble keeping the front end tied down, and that’s N/A…much less once I install the power adder it was built for 🤦🏻♂️ Mono-leafs with CalTracs, good springs, and a decent set of shocks work wonders cuz once it finally hooked, by God it HOOKED 😳 Always thought I’d be fighting traction issues vs lifting issues yet here I am anyway 🤷🏻♂️

It was right on the edge. Any more power on the hit and it’s going to the moon with damage when it comes down. While power wheelies like this look cool it actually slows the car down. A portion of the energy is propelling the car up vs forward.

@@tomlompa6598 Yes I know! But the intercooler add some weight to! How many pounds do you thinks it is weighing? Wouldn`t it be better to transfer that weight in the front?
@JohnClutch1 Жыл бұрын
I see a pass in 2 segments. Hook and Acceleration. The whole purpose of a suspension is to temporarily transfer weight to the rear so the car hooks. After the tire hooks, it needs to accelerate. And If you add weight to the rear, the tire won't accelerate to its full potential, which explains why you're slow AF 😂

@larrymccandless87233 жыл бұрын
I've always thought the 50/50 weight bias was great for road racing but a 55/45 front bias was better for dragging. The lever action around the rear axle being the main reason. If you have too much on the rear of the 'teeter totter' the front won't stay down.
@comboverracing81753 жыл бұрын
How about when you spend $8000.00 on billet Gen 1 94mm Garrett turbos for LDR and then three months later the powers to be change the rules to only 88mm turbos and then a few months later Garrett comes out with Gen 2 turbos and your brand new Gen 1's are worth half the price. What should I do? Sell my Gen 1 94mm's at a huge lose? Buy Gen 2 88mm's for another $8000.00 or more? Or let my car sit in the garage and collect dust an watch everybody racing on utube?

Take all of this with a grain of salt or a large serve of glue on the track as is the case is for radial cars that run excusively on a "radial track prepped surface" with the tires literally glued to the track... A Pro-mod chassis generally scales up 50/50 as an example of a high power door car without a front weight bias. No small tire no prep guys who are winning are running 62% weight on the front of the car, to that matter no NPK cars are running 62% on the nose either... NONE. Radial and No prep or No prep small tire are three different beasts and the same set up will not make a good car for any two let alone all three.
@philb55933 жыл бұрын
Inspiration for this video probably came from James and Kyle wrecking their cars with wheelies.
@MotionRaceworksOfficial3 жыл бұрын
James 240 actually has like 62 on the nose believe it or not. I think that short wheel base, shock package, and a bar angle are likely in the causes for that. Kyle is a wild man, he’s gonna have a hard time overcoming those wheelies with a rear engine, but that car sure is cool!!!
@coalstang3 жыл бұрын
@@MotionRaceworksOfficial thanks for sharing. Man i was 62% on the nose and thought i will never get to a weight bias sweet spot that works. I’m currently swapping to a tube front end and coil overs and light weight front wheels and tires. Light weight brakes.. And a few other tweaks.. all in should be 140lbs lighter on the nose. should be in the 59% on the nose with no ballast anywhere. I was going to chop firewall and move everything back but might try it and see how it does. I need to rethink things. i’m can’t believe the 240 was 62% on the nose. wow.
