Your music digs deep down to speak with my soul. This song in particular. It evokes emotions in me I can’t explain, like grieving over a fond memory of something that never really happened. Your melodies and lyrics sound like you reached inside the earth and pulled them out by the roots. Thank you both for what you create.

I currently do the same with my old man once in a while. He loves THF ever since I introduced them to him. I try to cherish every moment, it is all so fleeting. Sorry for your loss but glad for the memories you created.

I've seen your videos on my feed and never gave them a chance until I seen this comment. I love the Handsome Family, so I figured I'd check your stuff out. Wow. You are very talented! Glad for this song that ended up being the catalyst to check your channel out! I'm definitely a fan now.

We stopped for coffee in the Redwood forest Giant dripping leaves, spoons of powdered cream I wanted to kiss you but I wasn't sure how Like those Indians, lost in the rain forest Forced to drag burning wood wherever they went They had all forgotten how to start a fire This is why people OD on pills and jump from the Golden Gate Bridge Anything to feel weightless again Those poor lost Indians when the white man found them Most died of TB, the rest went insane In our motel room, you're drinking Slice and gin Reading Moby Dick on the other bed Remember the first time we slept together You said it felt like when you learned to float This is why people OD on pills and jump from the Golden Gate Bridge Anything to feel weightless again

This is the first song I heard by them. Then I bought the album and was hooked. I bought every single album since. This song is great, but is just a taste. I sold everyone of my CDs one desperate winter except my HF CDs. There music is the soundtrack of my life. They are my favorite band, hands down.

A girl showed me this album & this song while I was going to film school in Denton, TX back in 2006? I’ve always had a thing for sad/deep music & I think she knew I’d like it. We hope you guys come to Texas or somewhere nearby! I did not know Jeff Tweedy was on Through the Trees 🌲 🌳

Probably the greatest song ever written on the death of love. Heartbreaking and utterly beautiful.

I’ve been through some hectic times, and music like this just makes me feel relaxed and as if I am sitting in Front of a fire with nothing to worry about.

Hey just wanted to let you guys know that your music has made a major impression on me this year. I've been far away from home and your music has been a major source of inspiration for my paintings, in a time of isolation.

I love this song, and the video especially, but I wonder how a Navajo or Cherokee person would feel about it. While not overtly racist, it certainly is not very complementary of native people and their culture

I like this "band" a lot. But they've got some of the corniest lyrics I've ever heard. I don't know if corny is the right word...strange...odd...funny...just plain weird.
