i completely underestimated the skateboarder

People don't realize just how much of a leg workout skating is. I skate myself and I honestly think it has helped me increase my squat. When you skate you are squating and jumping in an explosive manner for hours. Its essentially a lowerbody endurance/plyometric based jump workout. I'm not surprised he did good. Lol

It's more impressive that the skateboarder can jump that high because of his height.
@mrgrumpycat90493 жыл бұрын
height doesnt really mean anything in vertical jump mostly it's about how trained the tendons and their relative strength & power
@Delabeled3 жыл бұрын
@@mrgrumpycat9049 I guess I should have elaborated. Physically height means nothing in verticle jump. But mentally needing to jump on something that's chin height there is a huge difference.

True, but he looks a lot lighter than Liao Hui. It's very impressive nonetheless.

Height means a lot! I'm 6'5 and playing basketball half of my life, plus I have really long femurs. No way any of you short dude can outjump me. My hips sits way higher than your. To jump to a 60 inches box i barley use any force. There are some short dudes that are genetic freaks, but even them can't do jack shit against tall somewhat athletic dudes.
@taitai673 жыл бұрын
@@tade5003 HAHAHAHAHA.. you barely need any force to jump 5 foot box? Let me guess, you also can do 4 foot vertical, and dunk 12 foot hoops, and single leg hop 12 feet, amirite? What the hell does lying and bragging on internet comments do for anyone anyway?
I mean.. skateboarder definitely has a great vertical explosion but the olympic weightlifters are athletes with the best mobility agility and strength in the world

People that don’t skate don’t understand how much of a technique and explosive sport it is. The highest I’ve ever been able to jump was when I was at my peak skating and I could keep up with the high jumpers at my high school easily. Jumping down stairs all day and up shit all the time is great training lol
@Project00613 жыл бұрын
I don't scate, but I definitely know it's technique heavy. Didn't realise it was an explosive sport though. I guess that makes a lot of sense though
@Jmack78613 жыл бұрын
@@Project0061 I mean you can only Ollie as high as you can (essentially) do a standing box jump- but along with being able to pop the board hard enough in the middle of that jump to get it to go as high as you can jump. If that makes sense

Jumping doesn't require the same neurological power than balancing on a board. Liao has the stability muscular wise but lacks the neuron activation/understanding of the contraption.
@chowdah97153 жыл бұрын
He doesn’t lack neuron activation, he just doesn’t know how to skateboard because his entire life has been weightlifting since he was 5. With proper teaching he could probably ride a skateboard in a few weeks.
