I was also surprised at how mild the Weihenstephaner tasted! Still enjoyable just less complex

Yes, I guess the only real way to put it to the test is to drink 4-5 (6?) of it - together with food, dancing and singing. Might then be the ultimate beer! 🍺

The only good thing about this time of the year, with summer receeding into the past, is that i get to sample plenty of seasonal german beers! And watch your octoberfest videos, of course!

Haha, thanks. There is a silver lining for every season if you look hard enough. Skål! 🍺

Interesting that you have enjoyed the Oktoberfest beers more this year. Ayinger Festbier (not an official Oktoberfest beer) was my favorite last year and I am not very impressed with it this year. It makes me wonder if the beer is different or if my taste is different.

I think it comes down to expectations, at least for me. I was actually also slighty underwhelmed by the Ayinger Fest-Märzen this year, but I had the expectations set so high! But pretty much all the other fest beers have been pleasant surprises. Next year it might be the other way around. 😜

Considering the purpose of these beers, it's totally acceptable not to remember how they tasted lol. I've had the Wein. Festbier, excellent brew - I'm sure I'd love the other one too. I can't remember having a German beer I didn't think was excellent.

Weihenstephaner Festbier is drk gold colored beer, clear with good foam. Grain aroma, a bit of caramel. Malty in taste, plus caramel notes, slightly dry. Correct but nothing more
