@@airgunnostalgia4210 Eventually the twang and the shot cycle settled down in my HW80 22. I tested it with my chronograph in the beginning and it was getting about 21 FPE, but over time it settled way down to 17 FPE. Eventually I took it apart to see why. The spring was bent a little, making more contact with the spring guide, that was eliminating the twang and making the shot cycle much smoother. I probably should have been happy with what it was getting, but I put an extra stout brand new spring in it. And the severe jolt and twang was back, lol.😆 I took it apart again, made a pop bottle shim, and the twang was severely lowered, and the shot cycle was much nicer. Lost about 1.5 FPE, but it was well worth it! 😃👍

Thanks for that interesting insight Chuck. I remember you mentioning that in one of your older videos. Here in Spain the guns are "kind of " restricted to 24 joules which is around 18 FPE. My 80 on the first few shots was around 21FPE, probably down to the dieseling. It's now sitting at around 18-19 FPE which feels great and more than sufficient for target shooting 👍👍
