Over 40 years of magazine articles and now KZbin, nobody has explained it better, thank you for taking the time to show all of us motorheads.

Great video . I'm a Machinist and built my own home made bench using the Audie electronics. I'm not a head porter at all mainly use it to compare stuff to make choices. Love the channel . Down to earth , keep it up

Thank you for the education! Far too many are charging for "Hogging " out your heads, in their lil shed out back, and giving false numbers to so many! I appreciate you breaking this down!

Great video Eric. Good to see what's inside a bench.

Very interesting Eric thank you for this i always wondered how FLOW BENCHES WORK GODSPEED

Thx so much showing all internals & measurement Issues !! ....Not a head Porter, but Always been interested in how Consistently air flow bench Measurements Track with Actual Dyno power & Torque results.....Considering how actual Running engine Intake Track flow involves Dynamic wet mass Pulsations of Bounced pressure wave Reversals & Hot Exhaust gas Bust flows near 1500 PSI at 1000° F, how does typical Unidirectional flowing 28" pressure Differential air at 80° ambient come close enough to Actual engine flow dynamics to Consistently & Accurately predict Actual engine HP & Torque performance ?? ...Big Thx for all you do & You're the Man if I need heads Done !!

Thanks Eric. I have used a SuperFlow 750 Many times. I also was really proud to see what my Ported Vortec heads flowed.... The I realized I had forgotten to put a spark plug in haha. Great video! I always honestly have been curious how a Flow Bench worked.

You don't absolutely need the electronics to be able to flow test heads, I myself was shown how to manually read the manometer and the pressure and then calculate the flow in CFM @ inches of water pressure drop. Industry standard is @28inches. There is also a chart that you can use to convert lower test pressures to 28inches and vice versa.. However time is money in a shop, and the electronics will allow you to be able to work much quicker. Eric is correct about the leakage, it is a must to check for leakage, correction factor. I have more on the subject, but choose not to alborate any further..

Looks like the Sainz has room for another motor. 😎

What's your opinion of PTS Flowbench? What software do you use with each bench?
@ejgrant51912 жыл бұрын
Thats not a transformer....It is a DIN type 3 pole electrical contactor to kill the voltage going to the motor controller and you should probably check the contacts for wear & pitting every so often. They are commonly avalible from WW Grainger Industrial Supply as are the Vacuum motors. You kids have it good these days....Back in my day you had to take readings off the graduated tubes on the old SuperFlows and calculate your CFMs by hand....YEP! I' that old of a Dinosaur😁

I'm All about Calibration Standards & test orfice Plates.....The Best Calibration test Method would test with Everything Assembled exactly the way you use it, Stand, Bore & All gaskets up to Including the Top sealing Plate.....There Should be an Adapter to use the Same Calibration Orfice Plate on Top plate where the cylinder head would normally sit to Fully test the whole Assembled flow bench.....Just asking Why this arrangement isn't used ??
@WeingartnerRacing Жыл бұрын
You should never calibrate a bench the way you describe. It says specifically in both benches books to calibrate without fixtures attached.

@@WeingartnerRacing That seem very Strange.....In my 50+ yrs of sensitive, Critical equipment tool Calibration experience, I've never encountered any equipment that wasn't ultimately calibrated Completely Assembled, exactly as used.....

As to prices, flow benches sound a lot like machine tool stuff. Ya can buy, say, a Bridgeport or similar knee mill, reasonably enough, but, then there’s work holding, tool holding, tooling, fixtures, etc, and a pile of money later, ya’ can mill stuff
