GREAT stuff Eric! Now I'm betting many people want to see what the newer Victor Jr given the 40 grit treatment would produce against the Holy Grail OG Junior. Don't ever modify the OG because you know, you can't go backwards. A thousand points of light and all that. It would be great to see another Jr from the same vintage as the OG Jr tested against the OG then given the 40 grit once over as well.

So the overall combination still matters and sometimes things are not what you expect. Nice.

The old version used rosin cores to form the inside and the new ones use loss foam to form the entire manifold. Loss foam allows better control of the inner structure and consistency.

I’d like to see you test the old Torker and the Torker II manifolds. I used both of these on big cam LT-1 back in the day.

Id like to see this as well. But if i recall correctly, he said they're terrible, sorry guys. Depending on the operating range you need it to run to/in, a performer RPM or Victor Jr would definitely be quite better than that design.
@peskypeet Жыл бұрын
@@BEANS-O-MATICtransmissions Of that I'm pretty sure. The TKII on the OG SBC was a bit of a pooch. Seems like they had better luck with it on different engine design's though. If you're dealing with a serious hood clearance issue.. maybe. But I'd still consider something else.

Hey guys, I know they are outdated tech, but this is what we had to work with in the 1970’s. My combo was 1970 RS Z-28 LT-1 .030 over 11.5 to 1 Crane Compucam 260 at .050 .540 lift roller rockers 1 3/4 Hookers original port matched Torker ported 492 angle plugs 20 lb flywheel ford top loader 4.88 to 1 12 bolt posi and Protracts on slots. This was my street car and it hauled a$$, with 9” M&H slicks it would bite hard and pull a tire!

Well I really can’t afford to be a channel member but I do really appreciate your testing! My thoughts towards this test is I believe if you had one of your ported dragonslayer heads on this engine you would see a bigger difference between these already pretty big manifolds because you’re just not taxing that intake enough at this level to see how much better it would really do ! Kind of why the Hulk 23 had absolutely no chance of doing good on an engine like this, it’s designed for absolute max effort 10000rpm 440+cid small block racing engines which you talked about at length. this is a just theory of mine but I don’t think I’m too far off if I am off, I’ll be doing some Pontiac testing between stock factory intake manifold and my fully ported factory intake work here pretty soon. Mainly because some of my work will be on an engine used in the FAST racing series so I plan on documenting everything and same day testing to try and keep it fair, thanks again Eric!

Hi Eric, I loved that video of yours when you spoke about all the head companies. As a Ford guy I had no idea the great heads Brodix makes for Ford small blocks. When I do a Dart block 363 in the next few years I am really thinking of going with Brodix. You are a wonderful wealth of knowledge. Thank you

Great videos. Keep up the good work! First intake manifold on my 350 Chevy was on my 73 Z28 when I got the car back in 1985 was a TM1 Edelbrock tarantula. I was a kid and just started hot rodding so i contacted Edelbrock and found out that it was a great design, and they called it the "Baby brother to the Victor jr" they regretted discontinuing it. I always had great success on the street...eventually went to a vic jr... love to see a test with one vs the old vic jr.. I sold mine in the 90's... maybee a viewer has one you can test......ty

Nice work, I have the Small Block Mopar Super Victor, it has very thin dividers and they do not protrude into the open are as much. also it has a step on the floor middle and the port s go down after that step

Have you tested Torque plus intake gaskets? Seams like snake oil to me but there was a lot of buzz about them 20 years ago. I am sure they hurt flow on the flow bench but are to make power because they atomize fuel. Just wondering if there was any independent testing to prove or disprove claims.

How much would porting do on this newer manifold? Properly not much as you said before, but a very interesting test.

Seems like none of us really know how an intake manifold contributes to making power. Your tests don’t prove out common theories about Cross sectional area, line of sight, constant flow…

The burr vs 40 grit lends power to dimples, just wish it wasn't so labor intensive.
@WeingartnerRacing Жыл бұрын
Does it since the 40grit made more power.
@magnusdanielsson2749 Жыл бұрын
According to Darin Morgan dimples arent worth much. Its too regular apparently. A burr finish or 40 grit is better. If it looks like a real amateur did it with blindfolded eyes its probably good. I think Eric just as Darin have mentioned that how theyd like it to look would not go well with the buyers, their buddies and internet forum.. 🙃

Eric, is the dyno engine in the exact same configuration as when you tested the two old Victor Jr manifolds? Can we draw direct comparisons between the two old Victor Jrs and these two Super Victor manifolds? In other words, is that antique Victor Jr still beating both of these Super Victor manifolds? Incredible, amazing info if so. Thanks for your hard work.

there was a guy posted video of dyno session, on 408 with trick flow 190 power ports and results were very close to what you results were for the 215 heads, well I asked "What is Dyno correction on the test results?" And i never seen video again.Most likey i was blocked
@WeingartnerRacing8 ай бұрын
It is hard to compare dynos because of that. I don’t think the trick flow 195 would be close to the 215 but there 230 would probably beat it.
