Gday Wardy, just watched this and wanted to share with you what I saw way up the Archer River few weeks ago. Firstly there was an old Cattle pen and Loading ramp, been through a few fires, probably a 25/30minute run from the mouth. But after around an hour n half/ 2hours, bit of guiding through shallows but mostly on the plane. The was a an extremely old Scar on a Tree, around the size of 3ft x 2ft, and the immediate area around the the edge of the cut was very rounded and about 100/150mm in height, that was enough to see the age of what time this would have been cut. I didn’t manage a photo but I think looking at it, given tree age and cut, it was pre European days. Seeing you guys share a passion for the History of Weipa and it’s surrounds. Couldn’t imagine what’s yet to be seen, truly is a remarkable part of Australia!
