i'm 99% sure the short boxcars you saw at the front of the first train were class b63d's. these are 60 foot, so they were able to reduce the height while maintaining decent capacity. csx still has some of these in their car pool, but since repaired and painted in the blue and yellow csx livery

The Conrail boxcars on the autoracks train are probably the 60 footer autoparts boxcars used for heavier components like engines/transmissions/etc. Milwaukee Rd/Soo/CP used to have a loaded autoparts train headed to the now gone Ford plant in St. Paul called the "Fast Ford". The switch job from the yard to and from the Ford plant was called the Ford Hauler.

It’s still not healing well so I go next Tuesday for a pic line for IV antibiotics for 6 weeks if this doesn’t work then they will have to amputate more. So while I’m laid up I am enjoying all your amazing train videos. Blessings

Good video. I like to hear the back stories of the history of the regions, the railroad history, and technologies of the railroad today. I am about 1 mile south of what is now Norfolk Southern main line between Pittsburgh and Harrisburg. Since we are at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, we almost always have mid DPU and helpers at the end. Until about the mid 1980's, 80% of all goods transported from the East Coast to Chicago, or into the Mid West and Coast to Coast ran through the main line. We had 4 lines and could have a train pass through about every 10 to 15 minutes. You can hear the roar of all the locomotives as they pass by headed East. The Radabaugh siding off the NS Mainline passes along my Eastern property. The line runs down into Connellsville Pa and ties into the CSX main line. There are centuries of history in the region that the railroad helped to support. I bet someone could do a 40 hour series of the locations and history of just the Radabaugh spur that the railroad supported and possibly hundreds of hours of documentaries for the main line from Ohio line to Harrisburg.. A lot of American History was lived in this region.
