Really appreciated the explanation of how Scat manages the metallurgy during machining compared to the alternative. Great stuff!

I have found that SCAT products don't require a lot of extra machining and balancing before assembly of an engine....love the products. Keep it going, please!

I've built some VW engines for both cars and Experimental aircraft using Scat cranks, non better for the price for sure. There was a F1 racing plane named ScatCat I believe. I would like to know if they make and or do anything with pressed cranks, such as the old Kaw Z engines and Two Strokes.

I bought four of his rods for my latest Honda rebuild when I heard about the company's story last year. I always thought they were low quality before. Four, of 1500 made that day 😅

Seems like I heard that someone one from Ford came to Scat to built either the crank or rods for the 427 for won LaMans . I remember hearing how they tested the engine on a stand to simulate the track .

A fine American story. And to think that proper state functions were funded by a reasonable 2 1/2% sales tax back in the day! The people there are absolutely being robbed blind today - I would never dream of any light industry endeavor there today.
@bigmuz_pilot10 ай бұрын
Yeah that was back when the 1% was taxed properly, that made up the difference.
@flinch622Ай бұрын
@@bigmuz_pilot That, friend, is a mirage: nobody paid top rates, net. Interest of any kind was deductible etc. Reagan [of all people] pulled off some serious jujitsu as president: rates [that nobody actually paid net] went "down" but... a host of deductions went away - he raised taxes, as proved by increased revenues. Rush never figured it out. I also note mileage deductions were effectively sent through the woodchipper under Bush 43 - I don't even bother anymore, where [before] if 50% or more was business related, the recordkeeping was worth the trouble. Anyway, beware of being sold jealousy because at the end of that tunnel there's a freight train that basically boils down to looking your kid in the eye and effectively saying 'If you *ever* dare become successful, I'm seeing to it there's a system in place to punish you' - its called progressivism. Personally, if I had a "king for a day" moment, I would put a threshold non-tax income level in place [near/above 150% of poverty level threshold], then flat tax on further income at 17% with no bs: an actual postcard size filing that doesn't need lobbyists or a freaking decoder ring. Paying doesn't bother me near as much as having days sucked out of my life every year in pure non-productive time to sift through reams of instructions, forms, formulas and records that need a word stronger than "byzantine" to describe. Those formulas by the way is where the executive branch steals congressional authority quite often to raise taxes - spread the effect across 3 or more forms, and your average committee never spots it. But if they should... its a "clerical error" and nobody loses their pension.

their cast cranks are cast in china. eagle and most others also. But they machine them. iv had 2 sets out of 12 that i had to hone to get a extra .001" clearance. because their crank was perfect on factory size. they do nascar stuff too.

Caution!!! If you purchase a crankshaft from SCAT, they will machine it with incorrect dimensions, so that the engine can not be assembled. Then the customer ends up with a $1,500 paperweight that they waited 6 months for.
