Weird LEGO Mario Mystery Bundle Opening! (Series 6)

Here's my first opening of the LEGO Super Mario blind boxes - like, I didn't even do the previous blind box series. For Series 6, I got these mega bundles, with four boxes per box. Lots of cardboard. These are sets 66749 & 71413!

i thought the whole point in the mystery boxes instead of bags was to save on plastic? couldnt they have had the bricks in the well sealed box with out that plastic too? why bother with the box if they use plastic inside anyway, lol.

This was all marketing bs which was accepted by way too many people uncritically. Its about making it impossible for people to feel the inside. The magazines now come with paper bags, they could easily make the same for CMF and this Mario series. Even without the plastic, such a hard oversized paper box might have a bigger environmental impact than a thin plastic bag.

Yeah, good point. The pieces being in clear plastic bags is more to do with the capabilities of the automatic piecing machinery that they use in whatever factory. I really hate the whole blind bag thing. I think most Lego collectors have a set budget these days, so they're not gonna spend any extra money on buying extra bags to get a full set, they're just going to not buy a bigger building set. Vidyo I think failed just like anything else Lego make that's App based. It would be much better having software included on a sd card so that it can be played with for many years without the need for Lego needing expensive servers and users needing internet connection. I really miss the days of CDROMs and DVDs included with sets.

Good selection, and great heads-up of how to get a full set. I never thought you would fail to visually automatically count stud lengths. They're 6x6 rounded plates, not 8x8!!. That 1x1 piece looks like it's what I would call Orange-tan 1x1 double plate height plate.

Bricklink calls that piece a 1x1x2/3 brick (not a plate, since it's the height of two plates). So I've been calling it a 2/3-height brick.
