4:47 i think that glitch is because the crouch and the power up, for example, when you get the cat and jump while you crouch, mario's hitbox get smaller, so, when you attack with a power up, like the fire flower or in this case, the cat, it will cancel the crouch and mario's up body will be trough the roof, so you can use the power up through the wall or roof, the same thing happens with this other level, but using the spinjump in this case; 7:04.

I am pretty sure the lava and side effect "brain" is formed by the lumawipe used by the SFX has that as the order. Lava makes one solid color so it's simpler to see.

In the second level Mario doesn't "fall faster". His hitbox when ducking just goes a little bit below the ground level allowing him to reach the end in time.
